Oh, we don't have the song on this.
SPEAKER_01Oh I can't see a light on that one though, huh?
SPEAKER_02Dun dun. Okay. I think this is nice. I like it a lot. Okay, are we going? Are we waiting for the refreshments?
SPEAKER_05I don't know.
SPEAKER_02No, let's just hit it. I mean, do is there sounds on these? I don't know. Try it.
SPEAKER_03Oh shit.
SPEAKER_05I feel like we're swingers or something. Hello.
SPEAKER_03You have to do a point at the end of that one. Try the try B.
SPEAKER_05With a wink. We're at a game show. Rain.
SPEAKER_03Okay, that's good to know. Okay. Can you put our little thing? I think so. I can.
SPEAKER_02All right. Um, who's the host of this one?
SPEAKER_03Hello, and welcome to my home. Hello, and welcome back to your favorite podcast, another Grooming Podcast. I'm Juan Rivera.
SPEAKER_01I'm Kat Grainy.
SPEAKER_03I'm Nathan Austin.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Kathleen Austin. Oh, do you have to hold it?
SPEAKER_03Oh, it's raining. I thought it was clapping. No. Oh. Is it raining? I thought it heard it is clapping. Hello, hello. Hello, hello.
SPEAKER_02It's clapping.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I heard it cheer. I heard it cheer. It is clapping. That's really funny. So we have a very special episode today. I like how I'm like talking to the audience. We are in my backyard. This is my home, everybody.
SPEAKER_05Beautiful park-like backyard.
SPEAKER_03Take a look, take a look, take a look.
SPEAKER_02You definitely have the goaded backyard.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, for sure. I love your backyard.
SPEAKER_03I love everything about your house. Yeah. Thank you very much. Thank you. I it it was definitely, I miss the Bay Area a lot. Yeah. Um, but this is worth it to me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, you're a home body.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05So your home is everything. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No, it's beautiful. That's what I was thinking recently, is because me and Katie, we want to be homebodies, but we're not. Are you capable? I don't think you can't. Exactly. But in our minds, we want we are. But we are physically not.
SPEAKER_01I love lounging around at home and doing nothing all day. But then after one day of doing it, I'm like, I gotta fucking find something to do. I gotta get out of this house. I gotta go do something. Ah! You know, I want a sickness.
SPEAKER_05I would wonder if I'd be more of a homebody if I didn't still live at home with my parents. But I need to get out. Like, even if I'm just home for like six hours, you know, other than sleeping.
SPEAKER_02I think you're like me and Katie. I just can't sit still. I don't think it's a good thing. Because you're all you're always the one that's down to like do whatever just to just to do something, you know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it doesn't even matter if you like the thing. You're like, yeah, let's go do it. Yeah. True.
SPEAKER_03I I used to be super social and super out there all the time, but then Ronnie's not. So when we got together, he really like tamed me a lot. And it's like he he always says, You can go do what you want, but it's like, can I though? Then you're gonna be like home alone, and it feels weird for like me to have fun by myself. I mean, I will, and I have.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. But sometimes I'm like, um, but you guys also have a goaded backyard. You mean it's getting there.
SPEAKER_02I was like, okay, we're putting some work on it. You know, I was feeling really good about it. My backyard, I was like, my backyard's sick. And then every time I come here, I'm like, my backyard's okay, I think.
SPEAKER_05Their yard is just so like serene, right? Yes, it is.
SPEAKER_01It's just so it's like and it's very big, and I love yeah, I love the water feature.
SPEAKER_02So if you're your guys' backyard, it's like I wouldn't really change anything. If this is my backyard, it has everything that you would want. You have like a fucking dedicated uh fire pit area, you have that uh a bar, a gazebo. A gazebo, you have two gazebos, you have a freaking pond.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and like a planter, all the storage, you have basketball hoops, like it has everything literally chicken coop.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, chicken coop over there. It's literally perfect, and you'll probably hear the train soon.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they would train as well.
SPEAKER_02Uh and so well, that's a minus to some people, but to me that's a plus. I like I like trains. I like it too. I like trains.
SPEAKER_04I like trains. I like trains.
SPEAKER_03I was the the previous owner, the first owner of this house was a commercial landscaper, so he did landscaping for like shopping centers and all that stuff. So I think he what he did was like get all the like the leftover stuff from their projects and like did this, and I'm so happy because it's yeah, but it gets hot here, so I know you don't spend a lot of time outdoors. Right now it's perfect.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's it's perfect right now. Yeah, nice breeze in Sacramento.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's the problem.
SPEAKER_03So why are you guys up here? Why are you guys up here?
SPEAKER_02Oh, well, we just went to a wedding. We went to Jasmine's wedding.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, our co one of our uh grooming apprentices.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, grooming apprentice, Nathan.
SPEAKER_02It picks up sound coming in the top. Okay, from the top. See, look, it doesn't come from the side, it comes from the top.
SPEAKER_05Okay, well, maybe the one was like this to me, so I'll do it like this.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, no, so yeah, our grooming apprentice, Jasmine. She is incredible, she's super promising. We're very excited about her. Um, you know, training to become a groomer, and she just got married. It was the most beautiful wedding, and she invited the whole salon, which was so sweet. We were like, You're inviting us? Like, yeah, what? You know, like we know how expensive weddings are.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was beautiful. And dinner was a buffet. Yeah, with prime rib. Prime rib buffet, yeah.
SPEAKER_01It was delicious, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Open bar from bar. It was from like six to ten. It was an open bar. Um and the lady was pouring doubles. I'd be like, yeah, double it.
SPEAKER_03Buffet weddings immediately are like amazing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05If you ever get married, do a buffet.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. I put to a couple weddings where you like go and stand in line and get your plate, and it's like, this is it. That's all I get.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, they let it kept the line coming. They kept it coming.
SPEAKER_05Although I felt like they closed it relatively quickly.
SPEAKER_01Well, okay, so the last drinks that I went and got, she asked because I went and got one for me and Nathan, and she was like, It's for you, and who else is it for? And I pointed out Nathan, and then she was like, Okay, I'll give you another one. Because she said, So I wonder what the laws are like over here because she was like, I have to be careful. This is why I'm bartending alone, because I don't want my license to get taken away. And so I wonder if there's like a law about like if you overserve.
SPEAKER_02Well, she's like, that man can handle his shit. I was drinking, I drink, I drink probably five doubles, uh, you know, and in uh that's my espresso's. And by the end, though, I was like, when she pointed at me, I was like, I was like, she's about to say no. Because I was trashed.
SPEAKER_01You were trashed, yeah. Um I we didn't even end up drinking, I didn't even end up drinking my last drink. She was like, This girl's fine.
SPEAKER_02I also it was an open bar, but at the beginning I gave her a 20. Yes. So she's like, Oh yeah, that guy. Um I'll get him drunk.
SPEAKER_01No, but she was telling us that I can't, I think she said that somebody had told her a bunch of the people came to the wedding drunk.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah. That's what she said.
SPEAKER_01That's when she told me, like, oh, I have to be careful about over serving because I could lose my license. So I'm really curious. Like, I want to look into it, like if there's certain laws out here. Because she was like, Nathan was like, Oh, you're working by yourself. Like, they don't have somebody helping you bartend. And she was like, This is by choice. I'm bartending by myself for a reason. Okay, and so I thought that was very interesting.
SPEAKER_05Well, she was cool. I saw it. Harry Potter dancing over there while she was she was having a good time.
SPEAKER_02One for you, one for me.
SPEAKER_05But no, she was cool. And um, you know, it's funny, I don't I still don't drink, and I'm I still have a year until I I mean in October I can technically drink again, but um I don't didn't drink before that. But I got it like a Shirley Temple and then like a seven up, and I was like, I don't enjoy this anymore. It's not I'm like no. Good. Would don't you enjoy the soda? Yeah, like the sparkly. I don't know if it just didn't taste good. Yeah. I was just like so. I gave him to Owen. He drank like six.
SPEAKER_01And that's so I I fear that that might have contributed to our problem. So, you know, as everybody on the podcast knows, I'm very weird about vomit. And uh at like 1 a.m., I'm like finally winding down enough to like fall asleep, and I hear Owen calling for Nathan, who is of course passed out. And I'm like, dude, what? You know, and I like get up and I like walk over because I can't fucking hear him because he's so quiet. And he's like, I threw up, and I'm like, dude, are you fucking joking?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like on himself in the bathroom on the bed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he was laying in the bed. Him and his sister were sharing a pull-out sofa, and uh freshments are coming.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and so I was like, hey, oh yeah, the trink fairy's here.
SPEAKER_01He just apparently sat up and threw up off the side of the and I was like, dude, you fucking asshole. Oh, here comes the train.
SPEAKER_03Train. I like the cubes.
SPEAKER_01I know, so pretty. Wow.
SPEAKER_03Wow what service? Can you make sure they're recording? I feel weird about it. Just in case. Because we don't have a monitor to watch ourselves.
SPEAKER_05Question Is the Gatorade sugar-free?
SPEAKER_03I think you might have gotten the zero. Perfect. Um, they're fancy.
SPEAKER_05Wow, I know. They have the best stuff here. They're also the hostess with the most they are.
SPEAKER_03You just said that last episode.
SPEAKER_05Everything is so organized. No chaos.
SPEAKER_03Is this lemonade or also Gatorade? I think that's lemonade.
SPEAKER_02That's the zero sugar one.
SPEAKER_05This one?
SPEAKER_03No, the that one. The Gatorade.
SPEAKER_05I'll take some then. Bartender. Bartender.
SPEAKER_01Thank you. Yeah, thank you. But yeah, uh, so he had just like, I guess, sat up and threw up on the side of the freaking sofa.
SPEAKER_03Should we wait for the train or no?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, wait for the train.
SPEAKER_01Okay, we'll wait.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Wow, this is a long one. I know. I know, I know. So you're like freeze, like, and soup, like four soup, and I was like, uh, and dressing. I mean, I just can make pre-moup and freeze and then yeah, that's one quantity, but we got to go. So I think these are half cups.
SPEAKER_04It's the longest tree in the world.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, I just want to finish my story.
SPEAKER_05Before we started this, I was like, well, how often do they come? It's like maybe once an hour. I think we've had like three in half an hour. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Let's put them down like I meant every 10 minutes, I guess.
SPEAKER_00Okay, almost, maybe? Almost, yeah. Yeah, it's 20 minutes.
SPEAKER_03I got married here, and I was like really worried that like during the set like our actual ceremony, but it was fine. I was like, well, just pause. This is literally the longest thing.
SPEAKER_00We should have timed it. Jesus. It's a way to ramp it up again. This is a big long cargo one. Yeah. You know what that is? The sound of industry. American railroads, American railroads.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Go ahead, tell us about the bar.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, uh, yeah, and then so then I'm like, I have to wake up Nathan in out of a dead sleep, who is now grumpy, and he was fairly drunk. And I'm like, I'm not handling this. Like, this is literally your job.
SPEAKER_03Can you like not like you can't, even if you like tried your hardest?
SPEAKER_05Like, so I mean, I could. She's caught vomit before from like as old at Disneyland. I remember.
SPEAKER_01But like now the thing is, like, in my head, I'd be like, Am I gonna get it? Am I you know what I mean? Like, what was the cause? At the time, I was like panicking about the cause, and I'm like, that's your job, dude. You know, so then Nathan has to go and like tell Owen, like, you gotta clean this shit.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, I I took a big scoop of it. That sounds disgusting.
SPEAKER_05And I'm like, Yeah, well, it was his whole buffet dinner. Yeah, he was eaten a lot too.
SPEAKER_02Well, I was like, uh are you're not sick, right?
SPEAKER_01Well, because we were like thinking about it, and yeah, and I'm like, it can't be food poisoning because we all had the same food. It I don't think it's like stomach flu, because same. It's like not it's not the season.
SPEAKER_02No, he just danced too hard.
SPEAKER_01Nathan thinks he ate too much, drank too many like sodas, and danced because we danced for hours.
SPEAKER_02He danced too hard, and he he was too full of food, and his stomach was just upset. That's clear and I'm like, you're not so that's why I was like, you gotta clean up.
SPEAKER_01Get up and go to a trash can or the fucking toilet asset. That's what I mean.
SPEAKER_02It pissed me off. So I'm like, no, this is gonna clean it up. Like, I'm gonna clean it up because why? You know, you're not sick. You know what I mean? You're not like you just had an upset stomach from dancing too much and eating too much, and then chose to throw up right in the middle of the floor. This is your bad. Yeah, you know? So exactly. So I'm like, you clean this shit up. So he cleaned it up as best as he could with toilet paper.
SPEAKER_01And then the next morning, this morning when we checked out, Nathan made him tell the person when we checked out that he threw up in the room.
SPEAKER_02So I'm sure we'll pay up the city.
SPEAKER_01I'm sure we'll pay a fucking cleaning fee for that shit. Yeah. Cause it was it didn't it didn't look great when we left. I was like, dude, you suck.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so my hotel, it wasn't ready when we got there at like 3 30. It was supposed to check in, it was supposed to be at 3, but they're like, oh, we just checked the room again and it smells like dog. And we wanted to be like, we don't really care about dogs.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But we didn't want to seem gross. But because we went there early to get ready for the wedding at the hotel, and so we had to get ready in their like restrooms in the yeah, because it wasn't it wasn't ready. They just steamed the carpets, I guess.
SPEAKER_02I'd be fucking pissed.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they gave me free parking.
SPEAKER_02Ooh.
SPEAKER_05And I was like, what was that, 20 bucks maybe? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was like, also, I don't think we paid for parking at all, did we?
SPEAKER_05No. It didn't even look like it shared a parking lot with a restaurant and another hotel, and I'm like, okay.
SPEAKER_02They're like parking, they're like, just tell her we'll give her free parking.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's no charge for parking, but we'll give her free parking. Well, then you said your breakfast was weird, right?
SPEAKER_02You know what I thought was hilarious though, is like I'm looking at the group chat as it comes through, and then I see you say, like, oh, and like everyone's silent on it, right? And then Kat goes, Oh, they gave me free parking, and then it pops up, Jeanette loved got free parking. And I'm like, Of course, Jeanette would love to get something free. She's a Brugal, Brugal person. Like, she doesn't comment at all until finally someone like got something free. Like, yeah.
SPEAKER_05But um it wasn't once we got into the room afterwards, it it's a really it was like a like a suite, right? It had a couch and a TV and a kitchen, and I was like, we were here twelve to four hours, maybe, yeah. Because we got in after the wedding. Um, but then yeah, the breakfast was weird because it apparently you're supposed to like write down what you want the night before and then they have it ready for you in a bag to pick up kind of thing. Oh but like we didn't we didn't check in until like right after the wedding and everything, and we kind of had pre-started, we paid for everything before, and then no one told us basically. So we went down for continental breakfast in our jammies, right? And then they're like, Oh, you didn't register your breakfast or whatever. I was like, Oh, I didn't know. But no one said that, yeah, no one told me that, but also just super weird, and then so but so then they she went in the back and made us like a thing. So like you could choose from like a frozen burrito or a free frozen breakfast hammered cereal, and a cereal is funny, it's all adult or child. I was like, no, I would want the children. Give me two child. Yeah, like I would want to be a good one.
SPEAKER_02Is the adult like a raisin brand or something?
SPEAKER_05Probably, or weaties or something, yeah, or Cheerios.
SPEAKER_02I used to really not like raisin brand, but I kind of fuck with raisin brand. We're old now.
SPEAKER_01No, just see. I was raised on raisin brand, so like I've always been a fan.
SPEAKER_02See, that's the type of white person Katie is the raisin brand family white person.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, but because okay, my mom was always bigger, and so she's like raisins will fix it. So she went on a hard diet when I was like young, and so we always ate like quote unquote, like healthier. So like we never had sugar cereals, like never.
SPEAKER_02I would like to know if raisin bran is actually healthier than probably not.
SPEAKER_01I don't think it's just pretend healthy. Raisins are healthy.
SPEAKER_05Raisins it'll make it healthy.
SPEAKER_03There's a lot of sugar in raisins, am I right?
SPEAKER_05Well, they're shrunken grapes, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Is that why I was looking for a loaf of like cinnamon swirl bread? Have you seen those? But they'll have raisins in them.
SPEAKER_05We do have one at our Safeway that does not have raisins in them.
SPEAKER_03I should go to Safeway then.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I haven't done it in a long time. You're not a Safeway person?
SPEAKER_03No, Bel Air's a block closer. So I go to What is it called? Bel Air. Bel Air. It's like Bel Air, Rayleigh's, and I used to fuck with Rayleigh's, but it's expensive.
SPEAKER_02It is expensive. Is it so is the same pricing? It's like more expensive. I was actually surprised that Trader Joe's is so is cheaper than like than Bel Air or than Rayleigh's? I feel like it's cheaper than um Safeway sometimes. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03Safeway is expensive.
SPEAKER_02Safeway, it's really but you go to uh the only thing I don't like about Trader Joe's is like it's you don't just don't go there. You go to R you go to Trader Joe's and then you have to go to the regular grocery store, right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It's like an extra trip. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I love Trader Joe's when we worked right next to it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But now it's too much, it's too far for me. Because literally Safeway is like two minutes from my house.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I guess Trader Joe's is just like pre-gaming the grocery store. And then there's Whole Foods and uh Oh wait, back on where we were talking about the wedding, right? Okay. Yeah. So we're at this wedding and the music comes on and and like people are dancing, but you know, once the drinks really started flowing, I don't know, it was just the salon. It might have been just been the salon. There was like two main groups of dancers. Okay.
SPEAKER_01I feel like it was like the bridal party and like the or you know, like the groomsman and like the bridal party, and then like our salon. Yeah. Yeah. That was pretty much the dance floor. Although it was our salon minus the younger kids for the most part. But I was like, you guys are hella lame. Like girls didn't even go out for the freaking bouquet toss.
SPEAKER_05I know. I went out there and I was like, I I stood talking about. I made these old go out. Me and Ellie and Savannah, all of us were out there, and I literally stood in the back corner far away because I knew she couldn't toss that hard car.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but you know what? I feel like she just lobbed it straight to her friend.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. She was she was looking like her best friend. She was looking out in the crowd like pre before she tossed it out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. She did like the oh the fake outs. Yeah, and just so I thought uh I was like, damn, she just hooked her friend up. But yeah, she appreciate it.
SPEAKER_01But the the us oldies, the us and Ashley, the four of us danced like the whole time.
SPEAKER_05I was like, fuck, this is cardio. Yeah. I was bouncing and jumping and twirling Ellie around.
SPEAKER_02The boys, the boys danced more. Like uh uh Drake and Zach, they were coming out a lot. The girls were a little more standoffish, but they came out a little bit. They they did come out, but mainly it was it was like us and the kids and then uh and the kids and then um uh Drake and Zach.
SPEAKER_05So it's funny, if I was at one of my family's wedding, I wouldn't have danced that much. But since I didn't really know anyone except for the work people, which I'm comfortable with, yeah, I was like, I'm gonna dance the whole night. Yeah, yeah, fuck it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you know, I always think like, and I'm not a good dancer. Oh no.
SPEAKER_05Your son also dances like that um uh Amish kid in the meme.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you know who he you know we want to know who he really dances like? Oh, another train. Oh my god. My son dance Oh and dances like okay, hold on, pause. Okay, my son dances like this. I'll do a demonstration and you see if you can figure out who he dances like. Young man. Anyway.
SPEAKER_05And they did the they did the the honeymoon dance, and the girls all went up together at first, that's where you pin the money on the bride or the groom, and it's for their like honeymoon. And uh, but no one's too shy, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But no one like they had them both out, right? Yeah, because normally I only ever seen them do it with a woman, but they had Andrew out, right? And then like everyone's in line to dance with her, so I was like, I'm gonna.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, everybody wants to dance with a bride. No offense to Andrew, he's great. But we work with Jasmine, we love her, we want, you know, because they're like, oh, girls line up for Andrew and boys line up for Jasmine, and I'm like, sorry, dude, I'm dancing with Jasmine. I'm here for her.
SPEAKER_05Well, I did too. I was also in the jasmine line, but I went and danced with him, and then I went and got whatever money I had left in my purse so I could dance with Jasmine as well.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So it was really beautiful.
SPEAKER_05It was a really fun one. She was gorgeous. I loved her dress. Yes, it was so sparkly. I know I fucking cried. When she first came out, I cried, and then when she danced with her grandmother. Oh my god, because that was the person who raised her. I was like, and the song they did it to, I was like, I was bawling and holding Ellie because it was like I love what like first dances are like family dances like that. Letting like letting go of you know your your child, basically, kind of thing. I was like, oh my god.
SPEAKER_02Her grandma was very nice.
SPEAKER_05Her grandma's like who at the end of the night, she was like hugging all of us, and she's like, Oh my god, you look she was like talking about my weight, and because she was she was watched the podcast when Jasmine's watching it, and she was like, She's like, Oh my god, you look fucking great. Like, I was like, Oh, she was so funny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she's like, Hug me like you know me. Yeah, to the children, all the children, hug me like you know me. We were dying, yeah. She was very funny. Well, I I was thinking about like, oh, how many weddings have we gone to? And like for my kids, that was their first wedding that they've gone to. And I was like, you know, I think that might be like the top wedding since we didn't get to go to somebody's wedding because we didn't know them yet. We didn't know I'm really offended though, still.
SPEAKER_05But it's here, it's here, it's like you well, it's also during COVID.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. I think we met you guys like right after.
SPEAKER_05Like right after. So unfortunately. But I was watching. This wedding, it makes makes me want to get married, but not really.
SPEAKER_02Um, but it makes me want to get married.
SPEAKER_05I was like, I want them to get remarried because they just did a courthouse wedding, and I would love for them to have this grand, beautiful wedding. I just imagine Katie in a beautiful gown.
SPEAKER_03Would you do a renewal on like a big anniversary?
SPEAKER_02Um, I mean, it's nothing set in stone, but we tossed around the idea of doing like a 20th when it's upcoming. Okay. Or 15th.
SPEAKER_01No, yeah. Well, so Owen, we were married the year before Owen was born, so he's turning 13. So this year will be our 14th wedding anniversary. So we could do a 15th if we had the money, because I also don't want to be too old. Yeah, I want to be happy. I look good right now. I don't want to have to wait uh six years and then like, what if I gain weight and then I gotta tumble downhill? Yeah, who knows what could happen in that amount of time. So who knows? But we do we do toss it around. Sometimes I'm like, should we spend money, like that much money, on something so silly, like getting remarried? But then then I see a wedding like this, and I like because we just had a courthouse wedding, and I it makes me sad because we literally never went and did the wedding dress thing. Like me and Kat we went to like the mall. Yeah, we just picked up a white dress at the mall, and that's like an experience. That's such an experience. Wedding dress shopping and yes, no, then you'd have to go.
SPEAKER_02I told her that, and she was like, No, I wanted it to be like more, yeah, more like Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, and we already secluded the only people that went were Kat and my dad and my little brother. So, like, I would want to make sure it was an event people could so many people could attend if we were gonna do it. So I don't know. I guess AG Peeps, let us know if that's something you'd like us to do. You got a destination destination wedding. So, yeah, I mean, who knows, right? That'd be fun. We'll come teach a class, have a renewal.
SPEAKER_02Where would we do it at? I was like, we'll do it at home at our house. She's like, No. He's I know I was like, dude, no.
SPEAKER_05I already did it. If you're gonna if you're gonna pay the money, yeah, you're gonna do it.
SPEAKER_01Although destination would be fun.
SPEAKER_05Like, what if we all went somewhere really cool? Well, the place uh Jasmine was at was really pretty, and they have multiple locations that uh venue that company. Yeah, they had one at like a castle wedgewood, wedgewood, wedgewood weddings or something.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, we're getting off topic.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, pro I I think like also pro tip for um the dance floor. If you want to, it like it was starting to die a little bit, and I was like, this shit's gotta pick up, right? And I was like, I have the perfect song to pick this party back.
SPEAKER_04It worked, it worked.
SPEAKER_02And I go up there and I'm like, hey man, and it's funny because the guy uh he's a Bay Area guy.
SPEAKER_01Um and I'm there was so much Bay Area music, it was beautiful.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, a lot of Mac Dre, a lot of hyphy stuff, and but I go up to the DJ and I'm like, hey man, put on Lachona. And he's like, he's like, for real? Hell yeah. And I'm like, yes. And then um, like I we go back and we're dancing, right? And as soon as it comes on, everybody fucking gets on it.
SPEAKER_01Literally, the entire floor is like full of people.
SPEAKER_02And everyone, like any Bay Area party, any probably any California party or wedding or anything, it should always be playing. Even if it's a white wedding, play it. Yeah, everyone's gonna lose their shit. Everyone's gonna lose their shit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's just so catchy.
SPEAKER_02And the dance floor was on fire. We did a lot of dance. Do you want more? Do you want to refill? I want the other one.
SPEAKER_01What'd you get? Oh, you got the one.
SPEAKER_02We need to move on to let's what else are we talking about?

SPEAKER_02What else are we talking about?
SPEAKER_01We talked about the We're talking about our last like two weeks basically. Oh yeah. I think Kat left for her trip first. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03So the last episode you were talking about going to Nationals and being nervous about going over there and stuff. So tell us about Nationals.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so I I stayed for Mother's Day, um, but Nationals started Monday, so that was Sunday, and I left on Monday morning like early. My flight was at like 5 a.m. Um, so anyways, I take the flight. I get to it was in St. Louis. Um, and that night was just welcome night. It's just people get together, they chat. They had a they had a mashed potato bar and toasted rabiolis. They just had like appetized booth. Very yummy. Uh they also had a photo booth this year. That was fun. We took photos at the photo booth. Um I ended up I stayed with um we had a adjoining room with Lumi's breeder um and her sister, they are siren kennels, um, Amanda and Brittany, and her daughter. I love her daughter, she's like 15, Mackenzie, she's so cool. Uh, and then I roomed with uh Cody, who is a new Bishon owner. She has one of Lindsay's Bashons, and she was really cool. And I was like, I'm sorry you have to be my roommate. I was like a snore, I talk in my sleep, but she's like, No, no, it's cool. Maddie had driven with Donna up there, so he met me up there, and then I flew with Lumi.
SPEAKER_01Well, and your other puppy, right? So you placed one of your puppies.
SPEAKER_05Yes, I placed one of my puppies with their new owner, Samantha. She's listener. Hi, Samantha. Hope Tommy's behaving. Um, but yeah, so we placed him. So Donna also drove him, and um, I placed him that day with her, and she gave me these beautiful um mosaic. It was my logo, but it was like 3D printed, and her husband made them, and I was like, they're so pretty. I love them. I gotta send you guys a picture because they're really pretty. But, anyways, I placed him and a little sad, but she's got a great home for him. And his little boy just watching him, her son was there. Um, he was walking Tommy around and they were just bonding together. Cute. Um so the next morning we got up early and it was the grooming competition. First one ever. I was nervous, and they said PCA, their first grooming top competition, only had eight people entered. We had over 20. We had like 22. Damn. Yeah, so we there was an amateur side and a professional side. So professionals just like competitive groomers or professional groomers, um, amateurs like owner handlers and stuff like that. Um so I was on the professional side. Um, Lindsay was there, Amanda was there, Britney was there, so all these people, um, a couple competitive groomers. It was being judged by Pina and a handler named Dennis Brown. And I really just wanted their critiques. Sorry, train. This fucking train. It only happens every hour.
SPEAKER_03Once an hour.
SPEAKER_01I feel like 15 minutes. I feel like it's every time we're like getting to a story now.
SPEAKER_03I've never noticed it being that often. Also, I wonder if I'm just immune to it now. Oh.
SPEAKER_01Was that a quickie?
SPEAKER_05That was a quickie. That was a quickie. Good. Okay. Um, anyway, so the grooming competition, I really wanted a critique from both these people. Um, and I had to groom my dog regardless, because that evening was gonna be the top 20 event. But, anyways, um, so we did it. We had two hours just like a normal event. They're all bichons, and um they start calling out the placements, and they third place is Lindsay, and I was like, oh crap, then I didn't get anything right. Uh, second place was uh Hemi. Uh she did a really good job too. Her dog was beautiful. And then first place was me. Woo! I feel like I know it's so quiet.
SPEAKER_01It's like a golf club. They're going this. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, we could do the oh wait, okay.
SPEAKER_05There we go. Um, anyways, so I was very surprised, and I feel like I didn't bring like a ton of hair, and I think that helped me because I sat there and just kind of perfected it and made sure the balance is good and everything. And um, but yeah, I was very, very shocked and surprised.
SPEAKER_01And you've been working hard on this trim for a while.
SPEAKER_05And uh so I got this beautiful ribbon, the winner of the very first ever. First ever. I'll always be the first ever one. And they said they're gonna do it again next year. Excellent.
SPEAKER_01You'll have to go and defend your title.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I have this beautiful ribbon, um, and then a couple sponsors donated items, and I got an Arturo neck dryer, and it's in the black teal. And I was like, Perfect, your color. Yeah, and then um it just uh fame had some stuff. I got some brushes and comb and uh yeah, there's just other little things in the baggie. But it was yeah, it was just I was like shocked and awed.
SPEAKER_02Well, you were nervous and you won first place.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I did it. Good job. Thank you. He was beautiful. Yeah, I was still shocked, but anyways, uh so then afterwards we just kind of went back to our room and relaxed for a little bit, but then that night was the top 20 event, and Lumi made it in the top 20 last year. And so that was their first ever for that one as well. And they said they're gonna do it again. But it was it was cool but nerve-wracking. So we had to go to a meeting and we drew numbers on our order. Okay. And I was like, Don't be first, don't hold on, Nathan's stuck. There we go. Um, I was like, Don't be first, don't be first, and thank god I wasn't first, but I was third, and uh, so they had this like procedure they wanted us to do, like uh how we did it. Basically, you went around like the full circle, and then you did like a half, and then there was like stars on the ground, three different three-stack things, and my dog sucks at freestacking normally, and uh so I was really nervous about that. But he nailed it. I was like, thank god.
SPEAKER_03Because so it wasn't like a show.
SPEAKER_05No, it's like a presentation. It is it is a competition. You are competing for the top of the top 20. Okay. Um, which I knew I wasn't gonna get because he was like number 17.
SPEAKER_02Is that decided? Um that's based off the edges. Is that decided there or is it decided already by who by numbers?
SPEAKER_05It's decided there at that event. Yeah, so it's anybody's game. But basically you're displaying.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna ask them if they could not do it for a little bit.
SPEAKER_05It's fine, babe.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05I don't think it's that bad either. No.
SPEAKER_01Sorry. For those of you listening, so sorry for all the extra noises. We thought this would be a quieter day.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But it's nice, people out.
SPEAKER_05But anyway, so yeah, there was an order, and the first two people messed up how they wanted them to do it. Uh, but I was the first to accomplish the the the ring order they wanted done. Um, but anyways, um, so there were three judges a handler judge, uh breeder judge, and an all breed judge. And we got to like put in our say for the judges, but we didn't know it was based off the top 20's votes for them. And so we didn't know until that night, until we walked in the room who the judges were. That's kind of cool. None of the judges I elected were on there, but that's fine, you know. I wasn't expecting it. Um, but the breeder judge was someone who I highly respect, and uh her name's Dale Hunter, and um they actually gave us our cr uh our score sheets uh afterwards, and she gave me a perfect score. And the other two, one was pretty high, and the other one was like not horrible, you know. It was just an honor to be there, and everybody got to dress up and be fancy, but it was kind of a smaller room, and there's tables surrounding you, and it was like and it was just you in the ring, so it was freaky. I was like, but I enjoyed it, and um the one who won was Neil, who was the number one Bishon for the last two years, and he's a beautiful dog, and a surprise. He's first he won. But I got a beautiful rosette, a shadow boxed rosette, and everything, and it was nice, and I gotta bring that home, and it's just really pretty. I'll send you a picture so you can.
SPEAKER_02Well, if they won, what did you win? What do you want? No, that's what she's saying.
SPEAKER_05She got the shadow box. Everyone got a shadow box. Everybody got one. We got a pen, a shadow box.
SPEAKER_02It wasn't like a first, second, third type of deal.
SPEAKER_05No, it was just the one and then the top of the twenty. And then the next three days are just shows. Shows. So there's um every year a certain club gets to sponsor like one of the shows at Nationals. And like we've done it in the past, our club this year is the Puget Sound from Washington. It seems weird to do a specialty from Washington or California there, but every once a year a club gets to do it.
SPEAKER_01I think that's kind of nice though that they get everybody gets a chance.
SPEAKER_05It helps with numbers. So it helps with numbers too, because these are usually clubs that have smaller number entries. Um so that one was uh Lumi made the cut every day for all the shows. And that was like my goal with him, right? But there were 28 males entered, but about uh about 24 showed a day. Um and I was like 24 males. I was like, that's a lot. That's a lot. Um and then Maddie was only in the six to nine month class, but he placed um first or second in every show that he did. Nice. Um, and then on it's hard because it started like on a Tuesday, on a Wednesday, so a Thursday, he actually won reserve best um reserve dog.
SPEAKER_04And at a national, kind of abrupt, yeah.
SPEAKER_05At a national um, with this many dogs, if there's double the points for a five-point, then you get a three-point major. So he got his second major out of the way. Nice. And he also won Best Puppy and Show that day. Nice. So uh I'm very proud of him. He's was he's eight months old, so he's young. So uh, and then on the actual national day, Lumi out of 24 males, got select dog. Woohoo! So that was a big accomplishment for us. I was like, that was the first time he's he's gotten an award of merit at a show before, at one of these shows, but uh this was our first pointed ribbon, and he also got best owner handler. So and at the actual national. Very, very exciting. And it's funny because at the beginning the judge was like, oh, I don't like basically she's like, I don't like big fancy haircuts at the beginning before we even started showing.
SPEAKER_01Oh you're like And we're like, oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05I was like, well fuck, I'm screwed. You know? He's got this big, you know, he's got a I just won first place on my con. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I was like, but he is also like he does he does have a bigger, fancier haircut, but he is a bigger dog. So it's not like you add a shit ton of hair to him. Yes.
SPEAKER_05So he's he's I feel like he he compliments his haircut, he carries it because he is a bigger dog and he is a fancier dog. But I was worried because I was like, well, does that mean she doesn't like fancier dogs in general?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So I was like, Oh, okay. The dog she did award Bess of Breed had like a tighter haircut, and she said at the end while we were standing there getting our ribbons, she's like, if you show to me it again, I want his your dog's haircut like this. And I was like, I don't know if I can do that. But and then I found out she's judging the first day in San Diego.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, well, she knows she likes your dog.
SPEAKER_05I know. I was like, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna cut his hair short. I might not fluff him as well, like tighter curls, just leave the curlier at the base of his hair and just fluff the outside so he looks smaller, you know, so the hair looks smaller, but not compromise his coat. That's smart. Because in the ring, I was after she said that I was like, this to his top knot. I was like patting it down instead of fluffing it up. I was like, let's just push it down a little.
SPEAKER_01Let's bring the hawks in a little instead of fluffing him out. Had it gotten a mister and like missed it.
SPEAKER_05I was like, oh fuck, when she said that, but it worked out.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, what a great weekend for you. Or a week, I guess if it's a week, it was a full week. Yeah, Ronnie was really bummed. So when we we we went last year and it was really overstimulating for Ronnie.
SPEAKER_05And it's a very overstimulating. I I prep seven dogs myself every day.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy. Yeah, so like during it, he was like, This is insane. I never want to come back ever. This is this is we brought Willow, that's it. Yeah, and then like slow, like after the fact, like the memories are like, Oh, that was fun, that was fun, right? So I didn't expect him to be as bummed about not going this this year. Like he was like, Oh, Kaz kicking ass, and we could have been there, and oh like he was just so sad that he wasn't there. So he's like, next year, I hope we have our puppy in there.
SPEAKER_05I was like, I'm hoping that Willow will get her shit together with her heat.
SPEAKER_03She passed her health tests.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I don't know if we mentioned this, but and Lumi got recertified, so they're gonna we're gonna have a Lumi Willow puppy soon. Um, hopefully. But Willow has weird heat cycles, so yeah. We shall see. Hopefully, we have her puppies by next year and they can compete at Nationals. Because I'm driving next year because I have too many dogs.
SPEAKER_02So I have to drive. How long of a drive is it?
SPEAKER_05Uh it took Donna and Ross uh like two and a half days. And if I have a second person to help me, Ashley. Ashley said she's gonna get her license and try to come with me last year.
SPEAKER_02So you're you're gonna just she's just gonna get her license and then do a country drive.
SPEAKER_05She's working on an RV too. We're gonna run an RV.
SPEAKER_02Not a great idea.
SPEAKER_05No, she's working on getting her she's working on getting her license right now. So she has a year. She'll have a year. And also maybe I can convince her.
SPEAKER_02She's a year's experience to drive across the country.
SPEAKER_05Most of it's straightaways, though. It's not driving to deserts.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It is crazy. I'll do the city driving. I'll help you drive, but I'll stay in a hotel.
SPEAKER_05Well, I'm planning on staying in a hotel once I get there.
SPEAKER_03Okay, okay. Um, because so let's just spend lots of gas money for no reason.
SPEAKER_05I know.
SPEAKER_01Like, wait, why would no one for me to not stay in it?
SPEAKER_05Because along the way, you don't have to worry about getting hotels. That's true. That's the reason I want to do it. And I probably would stay partially in there, but I want a bathroom to shower myself in because there's not water hookups and stuff.
SPEAKER_01Something though you don't think about.
SPEAKER_02Something you don't think about though, guess how much uh so guess how much you think gas was for the little RV we had to get. I bet a lot.
SPEAKER_05It's a lot freaking to drive my CRV around. So take a guess. A thousand twelve hundred dollars.
SPEAKER_03I hope not that much. I want to say they're gas guzzlers. 800 bucks.
SPEAKER_02A little under. It was about six about between six and seven hundred.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So not that bad, but I can imagine a cross-country trip would be. Yeah, that was just to Vegas and back. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And RV. So like but it would be like trying to find hotels along the way and being able to stop and just relax with the dogs to that that is the thing that I want to take an RV for. That makes sense. Is because also trying to smuggle you like six or seven dogs into a hotel, yeah. Not fun.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_05And like you could be able to, like, someone could technically, you're not supposed to, but go take a nap in the back while the other person's driving, and vice versa, you know?
SPEAKER_01See, you gotta pull a Danica.
SPEAKER_02You can't sleep in the back of an RV when someone's driving.
SPEAKER_05No, you're not supposed to be like, you're supposed to be buckled.
SPEAKER_01You're supposed to be buckled up.
SPEAKER_05But when Danica goes, how do celebrities do it?
SPEAKER_03Celebrities aren't like, I'm gonna sit right here in their tour bus. Yeah, I don't know. But I guess maybe that's different. That's a bus, not an RV.
SPEAKER_01Danica and Lisa, when they go, when they would go to Monty all the way across the country, they would just one would sleep in the passenger seat, one would drive for seven hours, and then they'd switch. And if they were both too tired, they would pull over and just lay down in the back. Like they just had a small van. They would literally just like curl up in the back and sleep for a few hours and get back on the road. Like they weren't worried about no luxury or nothing. But they had a bigger like sprinter van. This well, but it's full of kennels and all the stuff they need for monster. No, no, no.
SPEAKER_05I'm not talking about like sleeping wise. I'm talking about like I need I also have the dogs, their kennels, all the stuff. You know, it's just a lot. Yeah. Like if I could get a sprint, if I get if I can get a sprinter or something, then that would work too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No, go all full RV. If you're gonna do it, just do it.
SPEAKER_05Well, it also depends on. That's what I'm saying. Like, like I said, I might stay in it. Maybe if Juan gets a room, I can just go shower in his room. And I'll stay in there.
SPEAKER_02I call dibs, but you can do it after me. You know, as long as you don't poop in the no no pooping in the RV. I don't poop in our paper.
SPEAKER_01That's our yeah, very strict. No pooping in the RV.
SPEAKER_05No toilet paper in the toilet either. Wait, I like even wiping. I was like, when I rent an RV, there I'd throw it in the trash.
SPEAKER_02Why?
SPEAKER_05Why, because it's it can cause like backup, even with like if you use too much or something with the kids.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you said a you told us a story once. Yeah, there's a story. There's a story behind that.
SPEAKER_05So I just no, no, no more. If you're a grooming salon juggling bookings, reminders, payments, and nonstop client communication. Cuddles was built specifically for you.

SPEAKER_02Cuddles, your new grooming software.
SPEAKER_03Okay, well, speaking of RVs, you guys were an RV that same week.
SPEAKER_01We did rent an RV, actually. Uh well, so we used that new company that you recommended. I actually really like them.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I like that you don't have to pay for the extra miles because like Cruise American stuff, if you're they have a sale like once a year, but you could it's like only a month period that you can use it. But this one is like a Limited miles.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's called butthole surfers.
SPEAKER_05No, it's not.
SPEAKER_01It's called road surfers. Anyway. No, but they were nice. I liked the vans a lot. They were I felt like they were a little bit higher quality than the Cruise Americas, and they don't look as lame.
SPEAKER_03Why are Vs always so ugly?
SPEAKER_01I know, yeah. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05They're like swirled in like all these boxes on wheels, yeah. Well, like Cruise America always has like I feel like I'm renting a U-Haul because they're like pictures of like places.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I just feel like when people see it, they're like, eh. But these ones are like a little cooler looking. So and the price was decent. And it like it was kind of an odd like pickup situation, but it was fine. Where was it? It was in Millbray. So we had to go all over the bridge.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's on the peninsula, but the pickup was really simple. So it was what's it called? Butthole what? But that's how you'll remember though. Like I every time we've seen another one, I'm like, oh, another butthole surfer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there was a lot. And I was like, okay, last year there were none of these like they popped up out of nowhere company here.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. They started it overseas somewhere. Yeah, it's like Germany. I think they started.
SPEAKER_02Well, hopefully they keep it up because we might just put in the reservations for next year. Um world made four.
SPEAKER_01The thing or three, whatever.
SPEAKER_02The thing drove where I but we ended up going to um where we were going. Uh we didn't do anything related to dogs.
SPEAKER_01No, left the kids for you.
SPEAKER_02Left the dogs and just left Juan.
SPEAKER_01Left Juan. We really missed him. The whole time I would be like, I miss you, Juan. I texted him constantly. Uh yeah, we went to EDC.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and you guys probably seen it online because we posted a bunch about it, but it was the fucking most magical trip ever. Like it was just fun from beginning to end. You know, we just super caffeinated ourselves and drove all night. We left our house. What time did we leave the house?
SPEAKER_01We left at like nine, I think.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we left uh the house at night.
SPEAKER_03I was showing your location. I was like, why are they still home?
SPEAKER_01Dude, they said home yesterday, too.
SPEAKER_02We had to go back for something. Oh, okay. And um, Katie was so pissed. We we got like 30 minutes out, and I was like, Katie, we have to go back. What do you forget? I told Ronnie, I was like, I bet you it was a It was.
SPEAKER_01I was so mad.
SPEAKER_02If it was anything else, I would have been like, fuck it.
SPEAKER_01I was so mad because Nathan was for Katie, no way.
SPEAKER_02So we get out there and we're driving, and like we had I've been I had this playlist I've been working on for a year. So like we got the the playlist is fucking almost five hours long. So we were just set the whole drive, and um it was magical. We got there at freaking 6 a.m. and the line was already like a mile long. Well the line of RVs.
SPEAKER_01We got in quicker than we did last year because like remember how we were just stuck out on that main road? So they like filed everybody in different. So like they filed us into like all these lines and then you would just sit. Yeah, and then they would file you to a next area and then you would just sit.
SPEAKER_02Well, first you and then first we went in and went into those lines where you do the the check, right? Well, they basically make you get out of your RV and they check it for whatever. They're mainly looking for weapons or extra people or something, you know. Um, but we got in with two bottles of rose.
SPEAKER_01I forgot I had one. Two full bottles, wine bottles, and they literally didn't care. I was like, they're gonna fucking throw them away. They were just in the fridge, but he was like, Meh.
SPEAKER_02And um, so we get out and we're like, yeah, we did it, we did it. Only been like 45 minutes. So we're like, yes. You were like, ha ha. We're driving in and then they're like directing us into this like a huge It was like a fucking parking lot. It was like maybe four or five football fields size of just like one line, another line, another line of RVs. And each each line of RVs was maybe 20 RVs long, and there was like 10 lines at least, but they were like working, they would only let in one line at a time. Yeah, so we were there for two hours just sitting there in that line, watching them move other lines, and everyone's just like freaking out. It did not take that long last year.
SPEAKER_01No, it didn't.
SPEAKER_02No, this is a whole new food, a whole new thing they added. But once we got in, it was pretty chill because there wasn't like a big mad rush. You know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because they were only letting in line by line, but it still took till 10 to get into our spot.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but the uh so we get in, we get all comfortable, we brought our freaking ninja slush maker, or ninja slush.
SPEAKER_01I didn't know you had ninja slush, we just got it from Costco.
SPEAKER_02So we got a bunch of uh we brought a bunch of like mango drinks, so we were just drinking mango slushes the whole. We're gonna bring it next. We're bringing it or bringing it next. Well, I've already it's already in my mind. We're gonna have like the RVs in this a U shape with the middle with the ninja slush out there, and and so we're just partying the whole time. So basically we just spent three days non-stop partying.
SPEAKER_01Do you have hookups? Yes.
SPEAKER_02So not everybody's electric, electric, but not water. Water. No, okay. But you bring in your own water, they can bring you water and they could also dump your stuff if you need to. But having a whole f a full thing of water. And we parked by the bathrooms, so do they have showers in their bathrooms? No, but they do they have they have like I think shower trailers. Yeah, like eight shower trailers parked throughout the place. But like there's just a whole the whole thing is a vibe, and I try to tell people it's like it's it's honestly very magical. And um, I think the bathrooms kind of square up in my mind of what the place is because at the beginning it's like, oh, this is the men's or women's bathroom, but nobody listens to that, yeah, and nobody is weirded out about it. Everyone is just respecting each other in their space and like and using the showers, you know. I mean, there's couples going in and out, but there's no one like ew, dude. And nobody, yeah, nobody's everyone's just like there having a good time and it's positive, and nobody I don't know. There's not a Karen in sight. Yeah, it's just the it's just the best. The music is non-stop. We're in line at like fucking nine in the morning at the shower to take a shower, and we're the showers that we use are right next to Camp OG, and their shit just is always going, right? So they're just techno. They have their own stage in there. Someone's like they bring shit.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they do, they have their own art piece in there, everything. But I think like the thing that people don't get about an experience like that is like when people say pleur, with like the peace, love, unity, respect, like they mean it. Yeah, like you go in and everybody just loves everybody, everybody is kind. Like, I wear the least amount of clothing there than anywhere else, and I don't feel uncomfortable. I don't feel like guys are looking at me. I don't feel like, oh no, somebody's gonna touch me, or you know what I mean? Like it's very cool, and everybody wears whatever they want.
SPEAKER_03It's and like everyone has their bikes everywhere, everyone leaves their their chairs everywhere. Like you leave your setup and just go, and like no one steals anything. There's like bowls of like actual candy and bracelets and like trinkets, you just walk around. Yeah, pancake mom. Was she did you guys see pancake mom? We didn't see her, we didn't see her.
SPEAKER_01But I see her online all the time. Yeah, she literally just comes and makes her and her husband make pancakes for whoever wants to come and eat.
SPEAKER_03And like I just saw when she's like, we made a thousand uh pancakes today, and I was like, Damn.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so like it's just very I feel like when you go and like when you're in actual EDC and like you're listening to the music, and like I could just close my eyes and I feel like I'm just absorbing the energy of everybody around me, and like you feel like one with everybody, like I don't know how to describe it, you know what I mean? Like it's so special.
SPEAKER_03Even if you're not a fan of that genre of music, you will enjoy yourself. Yeah, like regardless, regardless of what stage you're at, what like you will have a good time.
SPEAKER_01And I just love yeah, and I love seeing people and being like, Oh, I love your outfit, and then they're like, Let's exchange bracelets, or you know, and like you don't want to go.
SPEAKER_05Parts of me want to go, but crowds overwhelm me extremely. Like, I went to one concert in my whole entire life, and it was at Shoreline on the grass, and people weren't even that close, and I was very overwhelmed. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Overstimulated, it just it makes it gives me anxiety, like hurt my soul almost, you know. I will say, like, the first time I went, I was like, I was very much the same because I do get weird in big crowds, and I it can be very overwhelming. And so my first time I was overwhelmed, I was overstimulated, and we didn't do a lot of research or planning, and I was kind of like, I don't know if I want to do that again. And Nathan was like, I fucking loved it. Like, I want to do it every year.
SPEAKER_04Every year, baby.
SPEAKER_01And then when Juan said, like, oh, I want to come with you guys next year, I was like, Okay, let's try it with Juan, you know, like I'll give it another chance.
SPEAKER_02And then I changed your life.
SPEAKER_01It did though, because he knew all the cheat codes, he knew all the tips and the tricks and the like, so I felt more comfortable and I was better prepared. So then after leaving that, I was like, okay, yeah, that was fun. I I really enjoyed that. So you this year I was like, okay, we're never not fucking going. Like I loved it so much. I felt so much more comfortable. But there was a time where like the crowd was really, really full, and I was like, Nathan, can we try to stand on the rail just in case I panic? I can fucking jump the rail and like security can usher me out. I'm just yeah, I'm just afraid of having a panic. Yeah, so I do I do get that because I still like I'm like, Nathan, can you like help me get to the rail just in case I need to jump out of my fucking skin? Yeah. Well, just like weaving through crowds, it just sounds so overwhelming to me.
SPEAKER_05It can be. And I was like, if I could go and just maybe hang out in the camp in the trailer all day.
SPEAKER_03That's a really expensive camp, but if you want to.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But I think if you go and just give in to because that's what it is, is like I'll start panicking, and then I just have to like it. So I think it's good for my mental health because I have to like let go and trust and like relax, and it's really hard for me, but then once I do it, I feel so good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So like parts of it, the more you talk about, it makes me want to go. But like I didn't sign up for next year because like there's no dates for nationals, and it's always around the same time. And then, like, do I want to spend that much money? I'm spending so much money at this and you know, this, and I can't not have nationals, and so well, so then isn't it like sell out like hella fast? It's already sold out. Yeah, yeah, it's already sold out.
SPEAKER_01Well, sorry. And so I was telling you this year they had at the campground they had cinema.
SPEAKER_02The first day is the first weekend is not sold out, but and it's all air conditioned in there at all. Okay, yeah, there is some stuff we probably should share. There in the camp, there is a a full-on theater that plays at a big tent that's fully AC'd. People are doing their makeup, just sleeping in there, hanging out. They play, we watch Talladega Nights. Hell yeah, brother. We also watched uh uh we watched um uh Wayne's World. Excellent, another banger, and like we just we didn't even know that was there.
SPEAKER_01We were just walking and exploring and just killed stumbled across it, and we're like Yeah, and they always have pools and they did a burlesque show that we got to see, and it was really fun.
SPEAKER_02So they had this bur a burlesque show that that it was pretty raunchy, but no, no um like full nudity, you know, but it got pretty darn close. But that's just like the vibe of the whole place. There's like um on the first night we get in there.
SPEAKER_01See, they were in the and then he they were in the elephants, and then he took them off, and then see he would put on the Pikachu, and I was like, Oh, Ronnie would have loved this.
SPEAKER_02We're the first night we're there, right? And we um we're partying on the VIP stage area, and there's this group of Chinese people there, right? And I know they're Chinese because they had a huge Chinese flag, and they all spoke pretty good English, good enough to where we could communicate, right? And you know me, I'm an extrovert, right? Yeah, so they're all like taking group photos with the Chinese flag, and I'm like, yeah, these guys are sick. I was like, let me get in the photo.
SPEAKER_01Very Nathan.
SPEAKER_02And so uh we could probably I'll probably send it to you, right? And then there's like a photo, and they're like, they have the Chinese flag, and I'm like, yeah, right. And so we're all partying together.
SPEAKER_01Well, like the girl, the one girl kept asking to dance with me so she could like record it and post it on her TikToks. And I was like, We gotta get the white girl dance.
SPEAKER_02I know.
SPEAKER_01It's like, is it because I'm white?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And um they're dancing, and then they start pulling out like the drugs start coming out, right? And like me and Katie are doing our own thing, and we don't really get on to all that, right? And um so like I'm looking over, and the girl, the guy all of a sudden pulls out this big vial of like, you know, powdery substance, and he's putting it all over his hand, right? And he's like, here, here, and he's like just giving it to everybody. So he's like, Here, you want some, you want some? And I'm like, I'm not gonna snort a random powder off of your hand, bro. Yeah, but I'm like I don't know you. I'm like, hey man, right on, pleur and everything, but I'm good, you know. And they're just giving it out to everybody, and every single one of them, like there's like a group of 10 of people, right? Yeah, every single one of them, one of them had a huge vial. Crazy. And like they're just like, and this is not what EDC's about. It's not about just like you can go there, it's about the music, yeah.
SPEAKER_01You can go there totally sober.
SPEAKER_02I pretty much rave sober, so there's tons of people that go sober and have just a great time, but um, they're all just like having a great time, and I don't know. It's just the experiences you could have are just freaking crazy. Well, that night I pulls out some cigarettes and he's he's he lights up a cigarette, and I'm like, damn, that cigarette smells good. I don't even smoke cigarettes, right? And he go, he goes, he shows me the pack, and I'm like, Oh, are those from China? And he goes, Yes, this is like premium from China. And I'm like, Well, can I and yeah, uh uh no, I said, I heard China has the best cigarettes, and he goes, You want some? And I'm like, Yes, I do. So he gave me a couple of them, right? And I'm like, I'll get a little Chinese, you know what I'm saying? Like, and so I have them. I actually saved them because I want I have one for me and I think we'll split it. Me and Juan will split it for it. One for Juan, and Katie's like, You're not gonna smoke cigarettes, right? And I'm like, babe, I don't I don't smoke cigarettes, but think about context, right? I'm at I'm at EDC, I'm partying with these people that flew all the way from the opposite side of the world to party here. Yeah, we're all having this emotional connection, partying and dancing together. And he gives me he wants me to share some of his cigarettes with me from China. I'm like, of course I'm gonna smoke these cigarettes. Yeah, you know what I mean? Win in Rome, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_03Your lungs are fucked with all the dust everywhere.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I'm like, no, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02It's not like a Marlboro red. This is the Chinese premium Chinese cigarette, you know? So that's like like I don't know, it's just you can't have experiences like that anywhere else. Yeah, you know?
SPEAKER_01Well, so that night we had like there were we had some really good experiences, but then there was like a few people that weren't very plur, you know, that kept trying to like push in front of us. And like it was crazy. Like me and Nathan would literally be like arm to arm touching, and people would put their hands like to try and push between us and like come through, and you know, I'm like, dude, what are you doing? Like, get out of here. And there was like one guy that kept trying to get in front of us, um, and like was almost like skeeving on these girls in front of us. So he was like a little bit weird, and that's not Nathan ASMR. Yeah, uh, that's not typical though, like that's like very uncommon. But then, like, we were at the main stage and they were playing a little bit of um harder music than I feel like they play at that stage. Um, actually, it was it was hardwell, so surprise his music was hard.
SPEAKER_04Um, and so like very breezy.
SPEAKER_01Um, but so I wasn't feeling his set, but we were waiting for sets after, right? And we didn't want to lose our spots.
SPEAKER_03Goosey pumps.
SPEAKER_01That wind was a good gust. But um, we were waiting for like other sets, so we didn't want to leave because we were like almost on the rail, very you know, it was like a really good spot. But at that point, I was like, I you know, like I hadn't remembered that day to bring my protein bar, so I was like, I'm hungry, and like you know, there was like a lot of little things, so I was starting to get agitated, and then because the music was like harder, I was like, I'm starting to panic, and we still have like one or two more sets after, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02So I was like, We wanted to see Subtronics and John Summit, and then and uh I think Hardwell was like right before John Summit was like the next set. So I'm like we can't leave.
SPEAKER_01In my head, I'm like pan, I'm starting to panic, right? I'm like, we've waited for hours and hours and hours for this set, and like these people keep jostling us, and like I didn't bring my food, and like I'm starting to like worry.
SPEAKER_02One thing though, the Chinese people from China they party that uh by the end, they were passing around that powder so much, like they were dancing and bumping into me so hard. They were being so extra, but like you know what, they were so nice, but they were being so like but the one skeevy guy he left because they were bumping him too much, right? And I turn over after the song, this one song, and the lady looks at me, and she's you could tell she's in another planet, right? And she looks at me because she goes, Thank you for not leaving. And I'm sorry I'm bumping into you. And I'm like, you know what I mean? Yeah, they're not yeah, they're not trying to be bust, yeah.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no, but just got a little carried away.
SPEAKER_02So she but then I think she wanted me as a uh guy to yeah, but regardless, like I'm like almost in like full panic mode.
SPEAKER_01Like I might just have to, but they had closed the upper stands. So like another guy had tried to go to the bathroom and he came back and he was like, There it they said if you get down, you're not coming back up. And we're like I was like, John Summit is next. Like, I can't fucking leave. We've been waiting for hours, and like what do I do? Because it's like so packed up there. And then there was this other woman like right near us that wasn't with the Chinese people, and she turned around, and I don't like gift from fucking God, she goes, You want some Starburst? And she just has a handful of them, and I was like, Yes, I do. And this is like exactly why I say like plurs, so you know what I mean? Because that like hit of sour just like instantly grounded me, and then she turns around with a Titsie roll pop and is like, You want this? And I was like, Yes, I do. And that like carried me through for the next like hour, and then uh I told her later, like, oh, thank you so much. Like that, like totally grounded me. It stopped my panic attack, like right in its tracks. And she was like, I wish you had said something, like I would have given you sooner. And I had a whole granola bar. She was like, Here, just put it in your backpack for later. That's so sweet. And I was like, Ugh, so like, but that's exactly yeah. I was like, next time we gotta bring lollipops and starburst and different things, because then they were on the rail, like, and they would somebody would look up and then they'd be like, You want a candy? and just like throw it to them. And I was like, I wanna do that, I wanna pass out candies to people. Yeah, so it's just it's such a fun experience.
SPEAKER_03John Summit crowds are notorious for not being very plur, just because it was not he's he's so hype and so like he's it right now, right?
SPEAKER_01Which is unfortunate because I love his music.
SPEAKER_02The crowd wasn't terrible, it was just there was so many and it was so it was more packed. EDC has some of the biggest crowds you will ever see.
SPEAKER_01But John Summit's crowd wasn't as plur.
SPEAKER_02Well, there was, I mean, everybody was literally shoulder to shoulder, like it was the most packs out of the whole weekend.
SPEAKER_01But it was a good set.
SPEAKER_02I I like his stuff, so I like his set.
SPEAKER_01But then Subtronics was right after, and the vibe totally shifted.
SPEAKER_02That's hard. Just the yes, uh but everybody was it's dubstep, so but like enough people left to where everyone had a little bit of wiggle room. It's still it was still packed.
SPEAKER_01I think they said 70,000 people were at his set, but like the whole vibe shifted, and suddenly everybody was like way chiller, way cooler, even though his music is harder and his set was incredible. Like you know what's crazy?
SPEAKER_03An arena has like 15 to 18,000 seats. That's crazy. Three arenas in that four arena. That's insane. So I'll send you a couple videos too. Like the cat's like, no, I'm not gonna.
SPEAKER_02There's a couple I want to send you, like the flag ones, because one of the one of my favorite things is when it's like the show is at its zenith, and like you look out at the crowd and you just see like hundreds of flags, and they're all from different countries and different places, and it's just very like unifying and just feels so cool to see.
SPEAKER_03Like sometimes the the totems and the flags are a lot because it blocks the view and stuff. Yeah, yeah. But just seeing all the different like because it's like people take what they love and what represents them. So just like seeing the different kinds of people and the different countries and the different just like stupid, like shirtless Gibby. Yeah, but it's just like random ass flags. It's so fun.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's fun. So, and then Sunday. Normally, like last year, what we did like the two nights really hard, and then we didn't really do the third night. I think we like went for like a little bit, and then of course, this year there was like so many people we wanted to see on Sunday, and I was like, Oh no, like we're gonna have to do all three to power through. Yeah, so we did. We powered through, and it because Zed was on Sunday, and like we love Zed.
SPEAKER_02Well, and we we missed the opportunity to see him a couple years ago because like uh Katie was just having a little bit of a uh like a panic, not the first the first one panic attack, first a little bit of one, right? But he was there, and I remember we really wanted to see him then. I think it's Was in 2023 or something.
SPEAKER_01I was having a little bit of an out-of-body experience.
SPEAKER_02And um, so we were, and I'm like, I don't care. People are like, oh, that's so basic. I don't care. He's it's still one of my favorite sets. It's a fucking classic. Yeah, I love it every single time I watch him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he can play the same set every time. I don't fucking care.
SPEAKER_02Everybody's lasers and pyro is like, it's I mean, it's EDC, so it's the best lasers and the best pyro you'll ever see in the US. Best lights, yeah. So everyone's like green lasers, like blue lasers. But then when he comes on, right, like I didn't know the lasers can do this. And like I'm at the peak of my funness at this moment, and the lasers start boom, and they're rainbow lasers. But I've never seen like fucking rainbow lasers. So the rainbows are just like shooting over your heads. I don't know. I didn't even record anything. You know how like people everyone likes something and they'll take their phones out, take a picture, record? Yeah. His whole set I didn't even take, I could not. You were in the moment. I couldn't. I was vibing too hard.
SPEAKER_01I recorded a little.
SPEAKER_02It was too much. And then like he he closed out for fireworks, right? Because they they pushed fireworks back to 145. Um, no, just from now on, that's like the name.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they switched it to 140.
SPEAKER_02So his set like finishes and that immediately goes into the fireworks. I get so pretty, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So beautiful. It was like so so pretty. But uh yeah, and so that I literally, I mean, of course he closed out his set with clarity, which is like timeless. So I'm like sobbing because I know like the weekend's like over essentially. I mean, there were still more sets, but like I'm like, this is it. You know what I mean? They do the final fireworks, and I'm just like fucking crying because I'm like, I don't want to go.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and like whatever we say fireworks, but like literally whatever fireworks you think you've seen good, these fireworks are like it's it's like 10 different Disneyland displays going off simultaneously.
SPEAKER_01It's insane. I've never seen fireworks.
SPEAKER_02I never bother watching fireworks anywhere else now.
SPEAKER_03It does nothing compares.
SPEAKER_01It literally trashes everything, and then Cascade was right after, so we listened to like half of that set. And then I like Cascade Tim. Yeah, I like it was a really good set.
SPEAKER_02Progressive techno or like um um trance. I'm like, give me that stuff.
SPEAKER_01You know, there was I there was a lot of sets that like were all simultaneous that I was like, oh fuck, we have you know what I mean? Because like we missed Tiesto and his set was sick, we missed Seven Lions, his name.
SPEAKER_02Which I think I would I would prefer Tiesto over John Summit if I were to see a set, but like since we didn't see John Summit ever, we had to be there, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, Tiesto's there every year, so you'll we'll get to see him next year, but like there were so many sets.
SPEAKER_02People are probably bored of hearing about this now, right? It was magical, it was the best thing ever.
SPEAKER_01She was yawning earlier, to be fair. Um, regardless, we had a blast. We are going next year. I'm going to Ronnie.
SPEAKER_03Ronnie's coming.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so those of you who got your tickets already, I think that we should like all get together on like a group chat, people that are going, and that way we can do a groomer meetup this time. So, you know, I think it would be cool to just like say hi, maybe like the first night or something like that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, definitely first day. Because the second day, yeah. Second, third day, I'm usually not here. Early.
SPEAKER_01We'll get in, we'll get in early on the first day.
SPEAKER_02This is weekend two, by the way. We're going weekend two.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I fair enough. Yeah, we're doing weekend two. So if you're going weekend one, the real weekend.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, but I would love to set up a groomer meetup um just because I think it would be nice to people try to find us. We did have a few people that found us, but there was a lot of people that were like, we tried to find you and we couldn't, you know. It gets so crazy there. So maybe if we pre-plan, we could just do a quick little groomer meetup and say hi and meet and greet, and then all split up and do our respective extra. I cannot wait.
SPEAKER_02I wish I could probably explain to you guys, the people listening and watching, the fun how much fun it is. Well, you only have uh 51 and a half weeks left. Yeah, but it's just it it's just I don't think it's something you could probably probably properly explain.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you just have to be there. You just have to try it once. And it's sold out, so too damn bad if you're sorry.
SPEAKER_05Maybe, maybe 2028.
SPEAKER_03A lot of a lot of tickets do so they they sell out because they do like the the five dollar deposit, and then there's like payment plans throughout the year. A lot of people buy their tickets because it's cheaper this way, and then they cancel their layaway when they decide that they can't go anymore. So close or a few months before the festival, there will be more tickets available through Frontgate. You just have to keep an eye on it. You just have to keep an eye on it, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Which I am not good at, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, we got our tickets, so it doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_05Weekend two, and we're gonna cancel. So is it something that like sells out like immediately?
SPEAKER_01Like, they never used to. It didn't the last two years, yes. It was awful to buy tickets this year for us. It was awful. I was like terrified we weren't gonna get that.
SPEAKER_02I'm so glad though that they split it into two weekends. So they split it into two weekends, and what they did is they lowered the max capacity.
SPEAKER_01Or so they say. Because we'll find out.
SPEAKER_02There's uh I mean over a half a million people sh go to this show every year. And each night I think has almost 200,000 people in the speedway. So I think it's like like 175 or some shit like that.
SPEAKER_01But it's so much fun. Yeah, it's it is way fun though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I know. Yeah, I I always tell people it's like it's kind of like the best way to explain it is it's almost like a religious experience.
SPEAKER_01It is though.
SPEAKER_02And um, I don't know, it sounds hella corny, I bet to people that are listening. They're like, that's corny as fuck, but whatever.
SPEAKER_01It's like it I it is though, because I really do feel like you feel like your energy is combining with the energy of everybody around you, and like you're all just like love and like harmony, and like I don't know how else to describe it. I really don't. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Wait, wait, I didn't talk about what I did that week. Yeah, what did you do? I went to San Jose and went to Athena's birthday party. Ronnie and I went, uh Ivan's I Ivan's daughter, um, and it was really fun. I they had Ivan was like doing the tacos and he was doing like the meat and stuff. They had a face paint lady and like a balloon animal. I did not.
SPEAKER_02I'm actually pretty bummed that we missed it. It was really, really fun. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh Ronnie's sister Misty, which we had we hadn't seen in a while. She was there, so we got to catch up with her and like hang out with her the whole time. Um, and it was really fun. I enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_05Really sad I missed it. Yeah, because I was like, oh, they've been so But her birthday's in February and it threw me off. I know, I didn't know.
SPEAKER_03I don't know why, maybe for the warmer weather, maybe because it was that was outdoors.
SPEAKER_05Tell them not to do it uh that that weekend because Ivan's gone. Tell them to do it in June or something.
SPEAKER_03Or her birthday month. Or around her birthday. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Crazy, I know. Anyway.
SPEAKER_03Anyway. Was that that was it? Yeah, was it? Oh yeah, I started it. Well, thank you so much for joining us on this laid back catch up episode. Thank you for coming over. It was so much fun having you. Yeah, and we'll catch you next time.
SPEAKER_01Bye. I could really dance to this one.
