SPEAKER_01I don't think there's ever been a time where I've been like, whoa, Nathan, you're really stanky. Like, don't even come near me. I don't think that's ever happened. But I think because I like his smell, but he also stays relatively clean. So like after a workout, I'm like, mmm, you smell nice. I'm never like a shower. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05After work and stuff, but it's like it's just his smell, but not like BO. I don't think I've ever smelled it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so that's what I like. I don't I feel like it guys that keep themselves generally clean, like it's not a traditional like BO smell, it's just like a them smell. And I like that. And same for I know, like I don't think I get like a real BO smell. I think I just smell like me, and Nathan really likes that.
SPEAKER_02So I I do think there's a level of arousal that's needed sometimes, though. You know, because sometimes you know you do you'll smell something and you're like, yuck. But if you smell it, I don't give a shit. Yeah, exactly. When you're turned on, you're like, I don't care. I mean, suddenly, suddenly it's a good smell, right? So yeah, so sometimes Katie will come home and she's like ripe from exercising and maybe like this or that, and I'm like, oh, that's too extreme. But then in the middle, I'm like, you know, so yeah. When in Rome, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01When have I ever come home after working out and you're like ill?
SPEAKER_02No, I would never say that. But he's thought it. No, I would never like I would never give you a sign. And I don't mean ill, but I mean like I just uh like it smell is away, but I'm not gonna bury my face in it. But like I'm gonna remember that now. You're like I'm gonna test that theory. I'm just saying I don't like the really strong smell all the time.
SPEAKER_01But when do we come home smelling really strong?
SPEAKER_02You don't, he's in trouble now. I just had my fucking face buried in there last night. Like, chill, babe. I'm gonna remember this. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, you know what I would weirdly like? And it's funny because I mentioned it to Drake because he has a nose piercing. Um and he was like, Oh, that's never happened to me before. Like sometimes when I move it, you can like smell it. You know that smell of like ear cheese. Okay, I like the I love it, and I know it's so nasty. When you play with like your gauge and you smell it, I know it's disgusting, but you'll if I'm ever doing this, like what I'm doing is smelling my fucking nose cheese. Like from my peer smell. Well, I mean I've done that before. You go like this and you smell it, and you're like, okay, yeah, I'll do that. And Drake was like, I've never done that. And then recently he was like, I moved my nose ring and I smelt it, and now I get it. And I was like, thank God.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so sometimes that is when I play with my ear hole and then I smell it. Okay, it reminds me of like a Hershey's kiss. Oh, doesn't remind me of a His kiss. Next time, next time you have a Hershey's kiss, smell it.
SPEAKER_02And then I was simultaneously curious.
SPEAKER_08Tell your daughter to bring me a Hershey Hershey kiss. They have them at that store. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Anyway. I have a I have a denji, you know that I don't know if you know, but there's like denture cleaner. Get rid of this, like they're like pipe cleaner things. And I have one in the shower for my ear holes.
SPEAKER_01Oh, interesting. Or were they gauge? I can't really remember how, yeah.
SPEAKER_05I mean they're just pierced. Yeah. They work pipe cleaners through there?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05It's like a well, it's like a denture clean. It's a denture cleaner. It's tiny if it's so it's like tapered and like really thin. We both like gauges. It is like a pipe cleaner, so I have like antibacterial soap and I like in there.
SPEAKER_03Finger. Did you use them for like braces you can like get in between and shit.
SPEAKER_02You get clean, like no one's ever gotten clean. Yeah, like a thing. Scrubbing your piercing holes and from the end.
SPEAKER_03From the end.
SPEAKER_02I just get in there and let the water run over me, and I'm like, I'm clean now. Me man, me clean.
SPEAKER_06No, no, no.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so for real though, every other shower, like if I'm in a rush, I just let the water run and I'll just like do a quick boop boop boop boop. But every other, maybe every every other, every third I scrub all over with a like a with like a loofah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, I loofah. Okay, but I loofah every shower. This guy is my whole body, uh very clean butthole, just to say. So I remember he no no no because he told me this. He told me this story when I was when we were like early on in our dating. Cause I was like, this guy is because he would like he really cleans it. And uh he was like, Oh, one time when I was younger, one of my cousins smelled like shit. And he was like, It always stuck with him, and he was like, I never want to smell like that. So he gets in there. Oh, yeah. I was like, damn, you do a better job than I do. Like then that now I clean mine really good because I'm like, I can't have him smelling better than I do.
SPEAKER_03I mean, no more itchy buttholes.
SPEAKER_05Child stuff like sticks with you. Like when you're younger, I remember one time in third, it was like third, fourth grade, I was on the bus ride home, and some girl was sitting next to me, and she just like, ew, you have so much earwax, that's disgusting in front of like and well, it wasn't everybody. So I like put my hood on and I was like, fuck.
SPEAKER_02And every single day, I'm like since then, I'm like, you know, Owen has a lot of earwax, and right, and I I like make fun of him sometimes because I'm trying to replicate that. I don't want a girl bring back shame.
SPEAKER_08I was like Nathan, Nathan's kind of a bully. That's how he that's his personality.
SPEAKER_02I don't want a girl, I don't want that situation to happen. Yeah, because that shit'll stick with you.
SPEAKER_01He's not he'll be like, hey, dude, your earwax, like I can see your earwax.
SPEAKER_02Like if it looks like it's pouring out, like what the fuck? Yeah, I've noticed that about him.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, okay, so to be fair, we have me and Owen have the same earwax.
SPEAKER_02How come it looks like a drip coming out? You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01Like what it's like, it's like I don't know how to explain it. Like it's not as hard, it's like a softer. So when he takes a shower, if he's not cleaning his ears after, it's extra soft. And so then it comes out a little and then hardens. Well, that's why he should clean it after every shower. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03There's that show. He's not cleaning it after a shower. I don't, I'm young, only like a little bit younger than you. But do you remember the show Ozzy and Drix? No. Where it was like a little blue guy and like a little capsule and a blood thing. Sounds very 90. So there was, yeah, so there was like this TV show, and then they made a movie of it, and then I, you know, I was impressionable and stuff, and then I saw they were like, oh, every after every shower, and he does a q-tip. And after that, then I started cleaning my ears with a q-tip after every single shower. Because I was like, Oh, I didn't know that. And like, you know, because it was talking about it was like a little boy who was like going through puberty. It was like a blood cell that was in an old man's body went to the young body. I think I remember that. And he's like, Oh, this is gonna happen. So he was helping the you know, other shit. Anyways, if you know, you know, but that sounds crazy. I want to look it up now. Yeah, but no, it was like after every shower, you put a q-tip in and he cleaned his ear and stuff, and I'm like, oh, you're supposed to do that.
SPEAKER_02And then on the q-tip box it says, do not put an ear.
SPEAKER_03You're not supposed to. I know.
SPEAKER_00What else are you supposed to clean them with?
SPEAKER_03I know a special way.
SPEAKER_05I'm just gonna go.
SPEAKER_03Okay, what is that?
SPEAKER_02What is that? What's just no, it's a don't go too far. Hello. And welcome to your favorite grooming podcast, another grooming podcast.
SPEAKER_01Wait, what am I it's it's just your favorite podcast because it doesn't have to be your favorite grooming podcast. Just your favorite podcast. Right? I think we talked about this last time because Cat did it. And Kat does everything wrong.
SPEAKER_05It's your favorite podcast all around, not just your favorite out of the favorite grooming podcast.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Come on, no, stop right now.
SPEAKER_02Welcome to your favorite podcast, another grooming podcast. I'm Nathan Austin.
SPEAKER_07I'm Katie Austin. I'm Juan Rivera, I'm Ronnie Rivera, and I'm Kat Grainy.
SPEAKER_02Yay!
SPEAKER_01After that little bit.
SPEAKER_02I already did the welcome.
SPEAKER_06I'm not doing it again.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_02Uh so today we're gonna start off with uh this new game that we did. You guys are familiar with it. It's uh very suggestive and fun.
SPEAKER_08And I don't like being against Nathan all the time. It's not fair. We did we did switch it up last time. We we switched parties. First round. Winning, yeah. First round it was still us, but he there was a malfunction.
SPEAKER_02So we're doing questions again, right?
SPEAKER_08Yes, I have questions.
SPEAKER_05I think it was just a malfunction because Nathan didn't win.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's why it was. Wait, what?
SPEAKER_05If Nathan won, it would have been fair, right? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Do we want to give these to Ronnie?
SPEAKER_05No, because you'll pick super hard ones.
SPEAKER_01No, it's so I had it randomized. I had it randomize them so he can literally just start at the top and then work his way down. Okay. Like, don't even worry about like who gets what or whatever. Just like last time I was like, this one's just grooming. I had it randomize it. I was like, just put it in whatever. Okay, who wait, who's going first? Is the first question. You guys gotta rock, paper, scissors.
SPEAKER_05Ooh.
SPEAKER_01Wait, so is cat pumping?
SPEAKER_07Cat's pumping. Cats pumping. I'm pumping. I don't do this well.
SPEAKER_05I left her comments. You could tell I've been single for a long time.
SPEAKER_03This is true. Let me know when you're ready. You guys ready? Ready. Oh, okay. Because I feel like you're gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_02It was weird that you you need to upgrade. Now that you have transformation, you need to put your face as your profile picture, yeah. It's like I've been single for a while, and it's like I don't want to be with anyone. Okay, that's not what I mean, but okay, go.
SPEAKER_03Anyways, okay. What blade leaves one eighth of an inch of coat? A number seven? Yes. I don't fucking know. Yeah. Yes. I'm the reader of those two are the I'm dyslexic. Good job, baby. I'm a visual learner. Um name three terrier breeds.
SPEAKER_08A Scottish Terrier, a Welsh terrier, and a Norwich Terrier.
SPEAKER_03Um, what is a dog's quick? It's the uh soft tissue within the nail. Um, which breed traditionally gets a continental trim?
SPEAKER_08Oh, a standard poodle. Sorry. Or poodle.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I did it.
SPEAKER_02Not a standard poodle. I thought it would be just poodle.
SPEAKER_06Well, I mean, it is poodle.
SPEAKER_02Get like two seconds, okay? One. One, two. Oh, damn.
SPEAKER_03Maybe it's a good thing she's single.
SPEAKER_08Well, I didn't know how much I can't yell at it all the time.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Name a double-coated breed. Uh poodle. Yeah. Technically, technically, technically, everything kind of is. What does HV dryer stand for? Oh, a high velocity dryer? Which comes first? The bath or the haircut? The bath.
SPEAKER_08They were pretty equal most of the time, though. Alright. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Do you want to pop it? Congratulations.
SPEAKER_08My hands are sweaty from that.
SPEAKER_03My hands are sweaty too. Why? I'm so nervous for you guys.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05Oh, big.
SPEAKER_03Wow, look at the explosion, right?
SPEAKER_05Oh, I forgot my that's my expression, too.
SPEAKER_01And look at the explosion. I'm moving all of this so we can get it in here.
SPEAKER_02Just beat the crap out of it. We use the same color too.
SPEAKER_03Same colors.
SPEAKER_02Let's do this game makes quite a mess. We need a big crazy.
SPEAKER_07We need a little tabletop break. Well, I walked in and I was like, what is along with the floor?
SPEAKER_02Well, we locked our cat in here. I mean, we didn't lock him in here intentionally.
SPEAKER_01We're like, did he like go somewhere off and like die?
SPEAKER_02The door was closed and everything?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then I come into the garage when it hasn't been too hot. And he's like, it was a couple weeks ago. And we were like, where is this?
SPEAKER_05And there was no like pee-peer or poopy or nothing.
SPEAKER_02I'm sure, yeah.
SPEAKER_07I'm sure he peed several.
SPEAKER_05It doesn't smell like pee at all.
SPEAKER_07For cats.
SPEAKER_05Maybe on the concrete.
SPEAKER_07Or the couch in the city.
SPEAKER_02No, it's wrong, babe. Upside down.
SPEAKER_07Oh, it's the other way. Oh god, I'm worried. I'm scared. Hey, have hope. I beat Nathan. I'm scared.
SPEAKER_05Oh my god, a girl on girl on girl final. No unheard of.
SPEAKER_01Juan. No.
SPEAKER_02Boring.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Yeah. Okay, so you're pumping for I pump. Okay. And I'm wait, no, I'm pumping.
SPEAKER_03You're pumping.
SPEAKER_05Okay, I say.
SPEAKER_01You are answering the first question.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I was I was hoping you were gonna ask the question. Anyways, what is hand stripping?
SPEAKER_05Removing the dead co. Is there more to it than that?
SPEAKER_03No, that's it. That'll work. I'll accept it as the hand stripper. Name a dog that should never be shaved unless medically necessary. Chow chow. Middle clean. What is a sanitary trim? Shaving of the punan and the booty. Or pee pee. I'll accept it. What blade is shorter? A seven or a ten?
unknownA ten.
SPEAKER_02Katie, don't cover that. That's where the air goes in.
SPEAKER_06Cover what? Oh.
SPEAKER_02Cheater. Just kidding.
SPEAKER_01Name uh wait, whose turn is I forgot.
SPEAKER_03Yours, my.
SPEAKER_01No, I'm answering, right? No, you just. Oh no, I just said a 10. I just said 10. You just said 10. So I'm pumping.
SPEAKER_03So confusing. Um, name three curly-coated breeds.
SPEAKER_04Poodle Deshaun and Okay, pop mine. Nathan, pop mine. Step up our hand.
SPEAKER_01We've been practicing on the DL. No, I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_02This is popping panic, not scissor panic, okay? This shouldn't be allowed. Over here.
SPEAKER_01Okay. That was a good one. These are good questions. I like these ones.
SPEAKER_02Oh.
SPEAKER_01I'm like so jittery. The adrenaline from this is crazy.
SPEAKER_02We should switch it up sometime, like this. The bros over here.
SPEAKER_01Oh, the fans over here.
SPEAKER_05So refreshing. I feel like these questions are like so easy, it's like confusing.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Well, you're like, am I right? What's shorter? A seven or a ten.
SPEAKER_03But then some questions are super simple, and the other one's like, name this hair follicle from the blah blah blah. It's like, what the fuck? That would be a good one. Sorry, I'm just trying to get my.
SPEAKER_01I'm so jit like I'm I'm like literally shaky from the adrenaline.
SPEAKER_02We should bring this to EDC.
SPEAKER_03Random people.
SPEAKER_01It's like, what is this? People would love it. Oh, okay. Ready?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Cat gets to pump first.
SPEAKER_07I feel awkward at the single. Ready? Yeah. I'm pumping first, right?
SPEAKER_03You're pumping, I'm answering. Okay. What is carding? Excuse me. Removing the undercoat. What does de shedding remove?
SPEAKER_07Undercoat.
SPEAKER_03What does or name a scissoring breed? What causes clipper burn?
SPEAKER_07Uh multiple things. I don't know. Dirty hot.
unknownThere you go.
SPEAKER_08I said dirty hot and then she kept bumping. Okay.
SPEAKER_06I was like, there's so many.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I would have said a dirtier hot blade.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, honestly, that dirty and hot doesn't mean anything.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04Semantic. Semantic. Good job, Kathy.
SPEAKER_01Honestly, so I'm gonna be honest. You said those two words, and they didn't even register in my brain as like, because she was like, I don't know. And then she said two more words, and I was like, what did she even just say? Like it didn't, but I will say, dirty and hot, what?
SPEAKER_02Well, I think I like it just washed over your face.
SPEAKER_01You were like, there's so many options, too. All we needed was one. I know.
SPEAKER_02It's the hard it's the easy questions to me that are the hardest, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, leave this remaining winter balloon.

SPEAKER_01Are we not doing a breed? I forgot to write it down, so sorry.
SPEAKER_02Oh, am I not reading? I don't want to read the breed.
SPEAKER_01No, I know, but I forgot to what breed is it?
SPEAKER_02Oh, today we're doing the Norwich and the Norfolk.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay, we're gonna do them both. I think uh we'll do them both as well. They're pretty much the same.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01For sure. It's Mark.
SPEAKER_02They're both too cuties. They aren't cute.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, do we want to do our uh spiel? It's time.
SPEAKER_02Oh shit. It's time to learn that breed.
SPEAKER_01So I look down and I almost read the book, Meet the Breeds. And then I was like, that's not right, really quick. Okay. I'll read one and then do you want to read the other?
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so the Norwich.
SPEAKER_08Alphabetical Well, I mean, Norwich was technically the original breed, so that's why it was starting with it. It was recognized by the AKC first.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so the Norwich Terrier, little rough-coated red terriers, were widely used as stable dogs and vermin hunters in East Anglia? East Anglia. Anglia. Oh, thank you. In East Anglia, before becoming popular as a companion dog for students at Cambridge in the 1880s. They were known as Cantab or Trumpington Terriers. They were first imported to America prior to World War I and quickly gained a following amongst horse lovers and fox hunters. The Norwich remained a well-kept secret for decades, bred for working ability rather than uniformity. The Norwich evolved into two distinct breeds. The breed was officially divided into Norwich, prick eared, and Norfolk, drop eared, in 1979. One of the smallest working terriers, the Norwich is a stocky, short-legged, rough-coated dog with a slightly foxy expression. It is squarely proportioned with good bone and substance. The back is level and the body is short and compact. The medium-length tail is docked. The Norwich has a broad, slightly rounded skull, a wedge-shaped muzzle, small, dark, oval-shaped eyes, and medium-sized erect ears with pointed tips.
SPEAKER_02You know, I love a Norwich and a Norfolk. I think if you're like looking for a terrier, a fun little compact terrier that could like hang out with all your big dogs and be rough and tumble, get a Scotty. But secondly, but as your second choice, a Norfolk or Norwich to me is pretty top tier.
SPEAKER_01I love the ones that come in.
SPEAKER_02But sometimes they do have this weird like breathing thing. Like I don't know, I don't know about their health, but like in the salon, they're just like our sounds, and I had no idea what it was.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they a lot of them do it.
SPEAKER_02So I don't know, but they seem pretty healthy. So I I just think it could be like if you're don't like that audible, like Yeah. Um and can you guys guess? So I've I've seen something right here real quick. I don't know. Which one do you think is more popular in the US? The witch.
SPEAKER_01I do think the prick ears is more popular than the dropiers, yes.
SPEAKER_05Let's say folk for variety.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so the Norfolk is number 126 out of 208, and the Norwich is 109.
SPEAKER_01So vastly more popular.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so the uh the Norfolk is more popular in the US right now.
SPEAKER_08That's weird. Okay, let's let's I feel like we see I feel like we see more. Yeah I see them more in the show ring, the Norwich, and then the Norfolk.
SPEAKER_05Let me read the blurb for the folks.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, let's let him read the Norfolk Terrier.
SPEAKER_05The ancestors of both the Norwich and the Norfolk Terriers were developed from an eclectic mixture of terrier stock in the 19th century. These little rough-coated dogs earned a widespread reputation for gameness as well as for being a great companion breed. An ongoing demand led to breeding programs in Britain and America long before fanciers sought official recognition for their breed, which was variously known as the Trumpington Jones or Cantab Terrier. These dogs were bred for terrier spirit and working ability rather than for uniform appearance. This led to the two distinct types of the breed, the erect ear strain, which is now known as a Norwich Terrier, and the drop ear type, which is separately classified as a Norfolk Terrier, in 1979. This is a game, hardy, short legged terrier with the weather resistant coat. It is compact with good bone and substance, a level back, a dock tail set high, short, powerful legs. And round feet with thick pads. Its small, dark, sparkling, oval-shaped eyes are wide set, and the small, dropped, V-shaped ears are carried close to the cheeks. The Norfolk has a slightly rounded skull, a strong wedge-shaped muzzle, and strong jaws.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I I feel like we see a lot more Norwiches around here. Yeah. I think there's a lot of Norwiches around here. Like I think we only have one Norfolk that comes into the salon.
SPEAKER_02And the Norwich has won uh Westminster. Oh I'm gonna look up the Norfolk right now.
SPEAKER_08Okay, and let me go for Norwich. How fast do you think a Norwich is?
SPEAKER_02Oh, not that fast. Oh, and a Norwich has never won Westminster. But I think it uh the Nor the the Norfolk has not, but the Norwich I think has won one time. There may be another one, but I have to read into this.
SPEAKER_01So this says uh old Rough Rider Jones here in America bred his little red dogs to be two in one terriers. So they were self-reliant enough to work solo as an earth dog, dispatching rats and other vermin, but they were also used in packs on fox hunts as pack dogs expected to get along with their pack mates. They are more gregarious than the typical independent-minded terriers. Uh these days, not many Norfolks and Norwiches are turned loose in packs on fox hunts, but um, their pack is more often their human family, other household dogs, etc. Um, they are among the more sociable of terriers. I'd agree with that. They retain plenty of classic terrier gameness and pep. So they have a true terrier spirit, but pack dog amenity.
SPEAKER_02What is gameness? Um, like feistiness, I would equate it to, you know.
SPEAKER_08Um, I think it's funny that they are there, it's like, oh, they're designed to work in a close pack uh with their other canines and stuff, but at the same time they're hunting a fox, which is very canine.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, but I mean, eye on the prize, right? Yeah. Um, but anyway, nor folk. It's funny, there's a lot more nor folks that run fast cat than uh Norwiches.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I wonder if it's like a West Coast thing that we see more Norwiches, you know?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, okay. So the fastest. Yeah. Yeah. Fat fastest champion. How fast do you think it is?
SPEAKER_05I think like 1617.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna say 15. 14 miles.
SPEAKER_08Uh 175.51. But the fastest non-champion is 19.79. Wow. But it I find it very interesting because the Norfolk uh tell me how fast you think the champion is.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna go. You said 18? Yeah. I'm gonna say 17.
SPEAKER_05I'll say 19.
SPEAKER_08Okay. Uh number one is a champion, and it's uh there's only six on this list. Oh wow compared to like there was over 20 on Norfolk. Uh and the fastest is 16.05.
SPEAKER_01So their ears slow them down. Yeah, I mean, you said it was you said it was the Norfolk or the Norfolk?
SPEAKER_08The Norwich is uh slower, 16.05.
SPEAKER_01Um, they are slightly bigger. Um so the the Norfolk is slightly smaller than the Norwich. Um, and in my experience, the ones that I've ever had in the salon, the Norfolk is lighter, a little lighter in bone and smaller. Yeah, so I imagine they're faster, where the Norwich that I have in the salon is a little bigger and stockier. So they're probably a little slower. Yeah. So it makes sense.
SPEAKER_02I think if somebody's looking, honestly though, I think if someone's looking into terriers, like, oh, I want to get into terriers, like a Norwich or Norfolk or they're really fun.
SPEAKER_01So they're adorable. And they're stripping, stripping is relatively easy on them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean it's hard once it's like to get to different lengths, right?
SPEAKER_01Like well, they have a much more open coat than like your wire fox terrier, your Welsh, or your la uh Lakey. Um, they are a fuller, more natural looking breed, so it can be a little bit harder for people to get it just right. Um, and then I mean I do the I do know there's one groom, at least one groomer who regularly competes with them. Um looks like a shrimp. And uh I think she's an intermediate now, but she does well with it. Um, I think we actually gave her her first lesson in um New Mexico when she first got the dog.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. I do know.
SPEAKER_01So she she still competes with it. It's very cute, dog.
SPEAKER_08Um would you say they're competitive though? Like once you get into the higher levels?
SPEAKER_01I think they're a breed that is not as competitive in open. I definitely will agree because um I just don't think they're as well understood. So like the nuances in their haircut isn't as well known as your typical dogs that are in the ring. I think that's I think that's what makes them less competitive, is because the judges just don't know as much about them. So they don't know the nuances to be like, wow, that's a truly exceptional groom. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And I but I also think too, it's like a level of flashiness. Yeah. Because like they are really cute and really like, but they're just not as flashy. Like if you put a perfectly groomed Norwich versus a perfectly groomed Scotty, black Scotty, the Scotty just it pulls your eye, yeah. It pulls your eye. It's a very flashy trim, the sharp lines, yeah, the beard, the eyebrows, the sharp angles going under the side.
SPEAKER_01Or a wire fox, it's a very flashy trim.
SPEAKER_02It just draws your eye. And like that's the tough thing about grooming competition, because you know, you like it did draw your eye.
SPEAKER_01Both grooms are technically perfect, and all you're looking at is like you're like, oh, which one, which one? And they're like, who do I decide? One might draw your eye more than another. Yeah, which is just a fact, it's not intentional, but you know, are their grooms identical? They're super similar. See, it looks like wide, and then this was the one that's so they're very similar, but like I do know the breeds are having like some stuff right now because like the tops of the heads are generally really flat, um, but a lot of like people are now grooming the tops of the heads fuller, more like a Karen. And it's so it's something that you see like argument. I'm on a lot of terrier like groups and um a lot of AKC terrier groups, and that is something that they're arguing about right now because some I think like handlers or whatever are building up more hair on the top skulls right now, and they're supposed to be fairly flat on the top. Um, so I don't know if it that's like I don't know enough about the breeds to know if like that's an effort to hide something on the heads or if it's just because they think it's flashier and prettier, or like why they're doing it. Um, but I do see people debating it all the time where some people are really upset about it and they're like, it's supposed to be flat. Because then I'm getting clients coming in like showing me pictures, like do this. And I'm like, that's not right.
SPEAKER_02Well, they're like uh oftentimes our clients will come in with like show trims and show freaking trims on these terriers, and I'm and they come in like once every six months and they're like, do this.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, I need layers, man.
SPEAKER_02And so I mean the talk gets very old when you're like, uh, this takes months of preparation and like of like pulling weekly, and it takes a very long time to build on like a short spot like that to build the layers. Like, yeah, I can't just do that. I can only take hair off or leave it. Like that's it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's a constant thing, yeah. But anyway, but they're adorable. I think they're they're both really they're both really fun breeds. That I would definitely like consider having one at some point in my life. I don't know if I'll ever have space for it, but Scotties, only Scotty's. I know. I would consider it though, like if the right opportunity walked my way. Walk this way.
SPEAKER_02I think Scotty's would be really like little. You do?
SPEAKER_01Good, good for anybody watching. We'll have these at our booth at Superzoo. Handmade by us.
SPEAKER_05I didn't bring it up to talk about it, but let's talk about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. There's these. We made them out of different colors. There's gonna be like a color for each one of us, representing each one of us and our AGP color. And it's basically, I mean, do you want to tell them what it is? Oh, it's a it's a there's a lot of neurodivergent people in the grooming community and weirdos and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_08And we're weird, we're not weird, you know.
SPEAKER_02We are weird. Hey, I'm a weirdo, you know what I'm saying? Like, I don't think it's a bad thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think being weird, I tell my kids weird is cool.
SPEAKER_02It's basically like a fidget spinner, but it also like grounds you a little bit because it's spiky. And what it does is when you squeeze it, it hurts.
SPEAKER_01Just a little.
SPEAKER_02And that little bit of pain kind of like takes a takes a bit of your um it just makes you stop thinking about things. It just grounds you. So you squeeze them, you can spin the top, makes a nice sound and a clicky. So this is like in my pocket or in my hand all the time, and I'm always playing with it, and it just it just helps me think or helping me do anything. So it'll be available for you guys at Super Zoo. Yeah, just a little thing, just a little thing for you guys.
SPEAKER_08Yep. Booth 1406. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So okay.
SPEAKER_02If you're headed to Super Zoo this August, make sure to stop by another grooming podcast booth, number 1406.
SPEAKER_08We'll have exclusive merch, fun activities, and we'll be recording live podcast episodes throughout the show.
SPEAKER_02Come hang out, meet fellow groomers, and maybe even end up on the podcast.
SPEAKER_01Superzoo runs August 11th through the 14th and is packed with an incredible trade show, networking opportunities, educational seminars, and some of the best parties in the industry.
SPEAKER_05Whether you're coming to shop, learn, connect, or just have a great time, be sure to swing by AGP Booth 1406 and say hello.
SPEAKER_02We'll see you at Superzoo. You ready? Um, oh yeah, I forgot that I'm always I'm the the host. Okay. Yes. Now we're supposed to do a recap. This is a recap episode. We're already 40 minutes in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, we've had I feel like we've been having a good time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01We've been having a good time. Well, and to be fair, we talked for at least 10 minutes at the beginning about uh body odors, and I don't know if we'll use all of that.
SPEAKER_02I think we will. I don't know. Okay, let's uh so right now we're just gonna do a quick recap on what we've been up to lately, right? Yeah, we did take last week off because we're so busy. We're tired. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01We're tired, we're old, we're trying our best, guys. So sorry.
SPEAKER_02Me and uh me and Katie went to Denmark to teach uh an incredible class. We did that. Uh, Kat had some really cool dog show stuff. Um Pet Quest happened, and um that might be there. So those are the things. Do you want to start with the uh with the Denmark?
SPEAKER_01Yes. I was like legitimately thought he was gonna be like, and that's all right. That's what we did. Um yeah, so we went to Denmark. Um, so we had actually met a really cool groomer, his name is Mikkel, and he had came to our class over in Northern Ireland last year. So he flew all the way there just for that.
SPEAKER_02Wait, we learned they were pronouncing his name. We were pronounced.
SPEAKER_01No, we were pronouncing it wrong previously.
SPEAKER_02How were we?
SPEAKER_01It was uh Oh no, maybe I maybe I still said it wrong. So it we keep saying Mikkel. It's M-I-K-K-E-L. So I think like as Americans, that would seem right. It's Mickle. So sorry. Oh yeah, Mickel. Mickle like a nickel. They don't have nickels. We have nickels.
SPEAKER_02He's he's our age and he's like a metalhead, right? He's awesome. And he's just a cool guy. He's just a really down-to-earth.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like he's just a really friendly, easy to be around, fun. Really loving, yeah. Really accepting with everybody. He's just a good dude, you know, and I just like being around him.
SPEAKER_01So he invited us to Denmark. He's a newer, he's a newer groomer and he's trying his best to learn like everything he could possibly learn, which I think is awesome. And um, in Denmark, they don't have a lot of opportunities. Um, so we were super, super grateful that he had us out. Um, it was awesome. We got to go see like Copenhagen, and you know, he took us out sightseeing. Um, the seminar itself was like very, very well put on. It was a really nice venue. The people were incredible.
SPEAKER_02Oh, and the Danes, they could drink. Oh, they for real?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they'll they would drink us under the table.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they could drink, they could drink a lot. Like we went to this thing. Um, we did a um, what was it called, babe?
SPEAKER_01Uh it uh one of their open face sandwiches, I can't say it.
SPEAKER_02It's these open face sandwiches, it's like a like a national dish they do, and they take it very seriously. They go to lunch. Very serious. They go to lunch and they have these open face sandwiches and they're very serious.
SPEAKER_01Which were delicious. We were like open face sandwich, but they're actually really good.
SPEAKER_02But they're like flavor maxing. There's like tapers, like pickles, all this stuff on them, but then they bring snaps.
SPEAKER_01And rye bread.
SPEAKER_02And it's not snaps like we have in America where it's like peppermint schnaps, right? These are like very herbal, very very serious schnaps. And they pour these little shot glasses, little, I put quotation marks, little shot glasses, and they literally overflow them, like put them all the way to the top. And you're just drinking the whole time. You take a bite of your food, you drink a bit of your snaps.
SPEAKER_01I couldn't even finish mine. It's it was good, but like I'm not used to drinking more.
SPEAKER_02By the time you're done with lunch, you've had four or five shots of these schnaps, right? Plus beer. And I'm I'm drunk. And Mikhail's like, You want another one? And I'm like, bro, Mikkel's like, You want more? And I'm like, wait a second, I gotta teach tomorrow. Yeah, I don't think I I don't think I could do that.
SPEAKER_01So um and then we took a canal boat tour and almost fell asleep after our lunch. It was so relaxing. Um, but no, it was super fun. Um, the people were great. It was really sweet because a lot of the people at the seminar were like, we've never taken any like any kind of continued education like this before. So um the people Is it available in places like Duncan? No, that's so he was like, we don't really have anything.
SPEAKER_02They do have some, but I they said it's like it's difficult to get to, and it's just not very free. Not as much as like here or other places. Um, I will say there's one thing though that I've noticed over there is like they don't um a lot of the groomers now, I I guess they call them um a lot of the groomers don't use leads on their dog at all, right? No. And I was I asked about it and they said clients will literally call and be like, Do you use leads or no? They don't call them leads, they call them nooses. No, no, they do not call them nooses, they call them gallows.
SPEAKER_01Oh, gallows, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Which is worse to me, right? Isn't that the metal the wood platform that you stand on, the gallows? That's what they call it. That's how they hang you at. Yeah, that's what they call the nooses, is the gallows.
SPEAKER_01Or like, first of all, rebrand the name.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I told them, guys, this is not it's dangerous, right? It's a safety measure, yeah. And every all the groomers there need to collectively be like, these are not gallows anymore. Yeah, call them something else.
SPEAKER_03You should have just brought out your groom loop and like these are called groom loops here, but it's one of them.
SPEAKER_02And there are uh people are always interested in groom loops out there, but if any of you are listening, if any of you are listening to this from Denmark, it is I it's you should really use a lead on your dog because all it takes is one dog to jump off and break a leg. Break a leg or break its spine or fall off on accident, and it could cause so much you know. For one, you're doing a lot of damage to the dog. For two, it could ruin your business, ruin you know what I mean. So just the thing is is you just don't leave a dog unattended on a table with a lead on. That's like the one rule you don't do. You do not leave a dog unattended on with a lead around its neck on a table.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think the the marketing strategy for us, right, is like it's a safety feature for us and the dogs, right? Because if a dog whips around to bite you and the lead is properly secured, there's a much less chance they can bite you. Or if the lead's properly secured, there's a much less chance they're gonna fall off the table because if it's at the appropriate height, they're not running all around the table. Um, so there's there's multiple things, you know. I think it's safety for the dog, but it's safety for us as well. Yeah. Especially that's how I market it to my customers if they do ask about it.
SPEAKER_02You're like, oh, you will do you want me to like, yeah, it's it's common sense. Once you lay it out, it's common sense why it's safer.
SPEAKER_01So I think collectively, as groomers, if we all stand together on it, then customers that call asking, they won't be able to find a groomer that doesn't use a safety lead. That's what we call a safety lead, right?
SPEAKER_02Well, I think the people that end up doing it are new groomers, which is well, because they don't want they don't want to lose potential customers, which is even worse because they're just trying to do a good job. But a newer groomer doesn't can't read signs as much, they can't read body languages as much. It's it's just a bad combo.
SPEAKER_01And I'm not saying I've never, ever, ever groomed a dog without a lead, but it's very situational.
SPEAKER_08Well, even my personal show dogs I groom with leads on.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I'll put them on a table where they'll just lay on the table, but I want them to learn how to put the black stack on the table because you can't do a proper breed trim if they're not standing the right way.
SPEAKER_08Or if they don't have their head up because they just want to hang their heads, especially a bichon or a poodle. You need their neck in the proper place.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, but um the the class was great, it was really fun. They they definitely gave Nathan a big challenge. So um, well, he had a beautiful carry. The carry wasn't uh it didn't have like a crazy amount of hair or anything, so that was fun.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then the next day it went and got its championship.
SPEAKER_01No, the next week, yeah. She went and got her championship. And then uh oh, we did a a little doodle, right? We did a little, she was very cute. But and then maybe she was a little no, she was a doodle, yeah.
SPEAKER_02All right, this is taking a long time, but now we got now we uh then we did a standard I did a standard poodle, right? We worked on it together. Six months of good and then the next day it went and showed and got a uh the poodle too.
SPEAKER_07So we were very proud of our hard work.
SPEAKER_02Um but when we were done with the class, these two ladies came up to me. They were, I don't want to call them old because they're not old ladies, but they're a little bit older than us, came up to us and they were the one of them was was crying, and I'm like, what's going on? And she's like, the stuff you guys teach about the shape of the dogs and the the way the form follows function. She goes, That reminds me so much of my husband who was a terrier person and how he used to teach everyone here. And she goes, He was the really big in terriers, and like it just reminded me like it's how important it is. She came, she's like, I came here to kind of be like this sucked.
SPEAKER_01Well, she's by the end, no, but she's Mikkel's mentor, so she's teaching him to handle it.
SPEAKER_02She was being supportive, but she also thought we might be a little bit like you know, yeah, but she's she was so happy with what we were teaching, and so she was crying because I reminded her we reminded her of her of her husband so much. So I'm crying, right? We're hugging, and I'm like, you know, I just want to like light, I just want to teach the best I can, and it was just amazing. It was nice.
SPEAKER_01That was the coolest interaction between a um well, she was there with uh was it a Norwich or a Norfolk breeder speaking of?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and she's like, I loved everybody.
SPEAKER_01Or no, maybe it was a no, she's a Karen breeder. I'm sorry. She was a Karen breeder, but funnily enough, she was like, Oh, I have somebody in the Bay Area that imports my Karen's. She was just showing at Wolfstock, and we were like, what a small fucking world, because like that's one of our regular shows. And she was like, Yeah, she lives right over in the Bay Area and she imports my Karen's. And I was like, How funny? Like, how small of the world? Smith's owner. No, I don't think so. That'd be even more that would be even crazier.
SPEAKER_02And so something I want to show you. We'll probably I'll send it to you so we could put it up. But it's when they got married, their wedding cake had Scotties all over it. Yeah. Just adorable.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, so you went to a dog show.
SPEAKER_08Yeah. So I drove down south. There was a Bashon specialty um for the San Diego Club. And it's at this, like um That's a big one, right?
SPEAKER_02The San Diego one.
SPEAKER_08I mean, the San Diego. It's a relative. I mean, it's a regional, right? Uh it wasn't a regional, no. We don't do traveling regionals like you guys do. That's this is just it was just a specialty. Oh, cool. Okay. Um, but anyways, it's down in Southern California and it's at this uh nut farm. And so yeah. So they have a gift shop with all kinds of different nuts and dried fruits and stuff. I actually really like this. Pan nuts? But anyways, um Was there brown ones? It's um my favorite.
SPEAKER_02Cats trying so hard to ignore you guys. Have you ever noticed they're darker? Yes, they are. Why is that?
SPEAKER_01I don't because it crinkles.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like literally darker, just the one spot, really.
SPEAKER_03But there's also the sweat and everything, too. Anyways, go cat.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I'm sorry. Shouldn't mention nuts.
SPEAKER_08That's on you, cat. Anyways, it was at a farm. Um, but it it's hard to this year. I decided to rent an RV because um you have so many dogs. Well, so many dogs. It wasn't so much about that though, it was also about um every hotel wasn't in the valley, right? Because you had to drive like into the valley. So every hotel was like 25, 30 minutes away. And so I was like, oh, I'm gonna stay. And it was really fun. I really enjoyed it. And um my coworker Ashley came with me and her daughter Savannah and Ellie. So we made it like a little vacation, it was kind of like camping, right? Um, and it was just nice to go back to the RV and relax and the air condition and not have to worry about like waiting for groups and stuff. Um, but anyways, we went, we took the three little puppies. Um, it was their first show. They just did beep up four to six month puppy. Um, we took Lumi, uh Maddie, and we took Miss Willow, who that was her first time out as a champion, so in the specials ring. Yeah. Um, and um as far as the B pups go, there were actually five every day. And um, there was me with my three. Uh well, Ashley has one of my puppies, and then I have two. Ellie showed my man. Puppy and I showed the female. And my female puppy took breed in the best puppy every day, and a group one and a group, two group twos. Oh nice. A little flirt. A little flirt. And then arrows, my male, took uh best opposite two of the days with Ellie, and she was very proud of that. And then in the breed ring, uh, it was a specialty weekend, so there was stiff competition. Uh I think there were eight males every day. Um, and Lumi got nothing the first day, and then he got uh two selects on the actual specialty day and the following day. But his son took the best in specialty uh breed win. So that was nice. And he also got a group placement um plus uh owner handle replacement, an owner handle group one. So I'm very proud that he's producing well as well. So I'm hopeful for flirting arrows. And Miss Willow took uh select two of three of the days for her first grand points, yeah.
SPEAKER_05And champion defeat already, too.
SPEAKER_08And she got champion defeats, yep. And a major, right? Yeah, she got a three-point major. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So now she only needs uh two more majors. I think you need three majors for a grand?
SPEAKER_08Yeah, I believe so. Yeah. But anyways, uh that was that was it. We had a good time in the R V. Got went home with some ribbons.
SPEAKER_05So since you liked it so much being in an R V, are you gonna do that for closer shows or only for faraway shows?
SPEAKER_08So I actually just purchased a new car and uh because my car died actually. Um my car of 16 years kicked the bucket. Um, and so I decided to go with a transit van, and I'm gonna build out the back so I can take it on weekend excursions to dog shows and camping and stuff like that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's pretty cool. Yeah. I want to help you build a thing. Okay. Because I've been feeling pretty buildy lately. Bob the builder. Only till it's about 90% done though, because then I'll lose interest.
SPEAKER_08I swear. Yeah, he likes to start projects but not finish them.
SPEAKER_02I like to take it right to the edge, you know? Yeah, yeah. I edge my products.
SPEAKER_08I I can uh hey, if you help me build the main part, that's all I need. I'm just not very handy with power tools. I mean, I can get around, but sawing stuff's not my favorite. But yeah, I'd like that. Yeah, me too. I have I have detailed plans. Let me see them. Well, I don't have them on me. Why would you have a lot of people? As we're in the middle of a podcast. Yeah. Let me study them right now. But I'm excited for that.
SPEAKER_02And it was a fun trip. It sounds like a lot of fun, especially when there's other kids for your kid. Yeah. Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_06No.
SPEAKER_02Get out of my hair.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And uh uh oh, uh, well then if that's it, then we went to PetQuest. Yeah. And we um it was a successful trip. I got some more points, you know, like I do.
SPEAKER_06Um I worked hard.
SPEAKER_02Katie worked hard. We did our thing. Um something happened though. Remember, uh, like we're waiting for poodle, and the judge was looking over me and Macy's dog back and forth over and over again.
SPEAKER_01Oh, the judging.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and then Macy reached out their hands so we're like holding hands like right at the end before they and we know we're like either gonna get like second or third or something like that. So we're like or something, and it was just like a uh just a nice moment. I really like Macy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was very cute.
SPEAKER_02You guys were like, But I got I thought we had a picture, but I have like a little video. See, you can't really see her, but just like her arm.
SPEAKER_01Because Owen was Owen was recording.
SPEAKER_02Cute, very cute. I looked at her hand and I was like, oh, because like I'm I don't know, I was married. No, well, yes, but like that's not like I just want to be, I don't want to be like creepo. You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I don't think she would have stuck her hand out if she would have you're gonna be able to do it.
SPEAKER_02It made me feel nice, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, so I mean, it was a really fun show. I like Pet Quest a lot, it's very laid back. I find it to be just like a more chill show. And it was nice, like we didn't have a you didn't have a sporting dog this time. So it was nice to like it was a lot more relaxed. We brought the kids with us. Um, we spent a lot of time with like Robbie and Stephanie. Um, so it was just really nice to just they're just good people, yeah. They're all they're super helpful, picked us up from the airport, helped us get like our hotel room, the whole nine, um, you know, brought stuff for us to borrow. So I love them.
SPEAKER_02My son swam like every day in this pool, right? And it's like a it's like a a salt water pool.
SPEAKER_01We didn't know it was salt water, right?
SPEAKER_02And Owen burned his eyes. Like he was swimming in a chlorine pool a couple days before that, and his eyes were so fucked up, like they were bright red. He's like he woke us up in the middle. He woke us up in the middle of the night and was. I told him no.
SPEAKER_07We were like, fuck you, I told him no, dude.
SPEAKER_02And he's like just laying there. He's like, I can't close them. And I'm like, just go to sleep. Yeah, I got him some saline, some water, like saline, so I just flushed his eyes.
SPEAKER_01More salt water.
SPEAKER_02And I'm like, I'm like, you need to go to sleep now, right? He woke up. He's like, he was like a little upset, you know. I mean, I could tell he wanted me to take him, but I'm like, dude, you're gonna be fine, I swear to you. I've his eyes were fine. My grandma know they were fine. My grandma had a pool. You know, you guys go swimming as you should you fuck your shit up, you know. I told him, watch, you're gonna wake up. I was praying though. If we woke up and he was like, We woke up, his eyes were fine. Well, you know, they were perfect.
SPEAKER_01He was like, Oh yeah, my eyes are fine. And we're like, so next time he was freaking himself out. That's what was happening. They hurt a little, then he was just fucking panicking. He's like, I'm gonna go blind. Um, well, he starts looking, he starts looking it up online, like, what if my eyes are burned from chlorine?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he looked it up on Google. And we're like, don't do that. Yeah, it's like you're gonna die. We learned not to do that because of uh Web MD. Web MD.
SPEAKER_07You have cancer. So it could be this, this, or this.
SPEAKER_03This is a different time from when he threw up and was freaking out. Yeah. Okay. So maybe you guys should stop bringing him to grooming. Or when he had a stomach. Oh, the wedding.
SPEAKER_01No, he did a pet quest too. He threw up? No, yes, no. So he had chili for dinner, and then like we're all laying down, and he goes, I don't, he was like coughing a little, and then I think he verped because then he was like, Oh my god, I think I threw up. And it was like on the like, and it was just like the tiniest bit of like liquid, but it had like chili, you could tell it had like the chili color in it. And I was like, dude, uh like and I'm like thinking about it, and I'm like, he hasn't been, you know, and he didn't do anything else after that. So I think he verped and didn't know it was a verp. You just swallow that shit back when you verp.
SPEAKER_02When you're young like that, you don't know what a verp is until you experience it, right?
SPEAKER_01And so then I was like, you know what? It's probably acid reflux, and he doesn't realize he's having acid reflux. So then I gave him a couple of tums and he was like, Oh, yeah, I feel better. And I was like, Okay, it's just fucking acid reflux. Don't freak me out like that, dude. Yeah, and um anyway.
SPEAKER_02I think by the end of the weekend, I'm I I still remain in third, I think, right?
SPEAKER_01I think so, yeah. You're the turd hand. Well, so um I didn't get any love in Scotty this time. Unfortunately, the Scotty that I've been borrowing, I I don't think that she was stripped in between Tacoma and pet quest. Um, so she didn't have any layers. So I was really happy, like same as like Pasadena when she didn't have any hair. This time she had too much hair and I couldn't get the finish I wanted. So I was still really happy with what I did. But I mean, when your dog doesn't have the right amount of like layers, there it's not like oh, you could bring a poodle with six months of coat and whack it all off. It's not the same, it has to have layers.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, so unfortunately, I didn't get any love in that. So that was a little disappointing because I feel like I've been like working really hard up to this. That's okay.
SPEAKER_02Tears tear will do tears.
SPEAKER_01Uh, my new puppy is showing a lot of promise. So I'm hopeful that when he's an adult, he'll be a really good competition dog for me.
SPEAKER_02We got a lot of riding on this little fucker.
SPEAKER_01I can stop worrying about borrowing um dogs as much, you know, relying on other people. Um, and then like I said, we skipped sporting. You did do um a carry, which I thought was absolutely gorgeous. Um, but it was a pretty big ring, and um no one That was a Canadian sweep though. They did a beautiful job.
SPEAKER_02Oh, but the two the two breeders in the the two breeders that were watching had me wanted me so uh that that felt good at least. You know what I mean? The breeders are like, nah, he should win. But you know they loved it, but they're looking from the sands, they can't see up close, you know. So all my stuff was technical, which pisses me up, you know, because like with me, it's always technical.
SPEAKER_01It's always like well, you'll you end up running out of time. That's what happens, though, you know.
SPEAKER_02All right, we should cut it. It's been an hour. These people need to room their dogs.
SPEAKER_01And then you got a placement in poodle, you got third place in poodle. Yeah, the turd again. Congratulations with big boy helios. But you came every dog you did, you came with big coat because the carry was in a lot of coat.
SPEAKER_02There was practice for worlds.
SPEAKER_01Helios was in nine weeks of coat, and so that was worlds practice for you because or Grimania practice. Grimania practice, yeah. So that was the whole reason we went was it was it's enough time between PetQuest and Grimania for us to grow him back out again, but you could get one last practice in. Um, so you've been taking your critiques this year. Every time you've done him this year, you've done big coat. So it's been really good practice. So I'm proud that even with nine weeks of coat, you you got a placement.
SPEAKER_02So hooray! Wow.
SPEAKER_01Do we want to do anything at the end? Because I feel like we did plenty.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we did.
SPEAKER_02Well, thank you. That was our recap and our uh, you know, the dumb bullshit we talk about. I hope it entertained you. It entertained me. My winner balloon here. Cleaner.
SPEAKER_01Um I feel like I should pop it.
SPEAKER_02Um, but you know, thank you for spending your time with us, you know? We appreciate it.
SPEAKER_01And we should do that faceline.
SPEAKER_02That is not the way, babe. That is way.
SPEAKER_05I think it's kidding.
SPEAKER_01Is that better? Oh no.
SPEAKER_02All right, well.
